[2019] Placing any sort of trap item causes non-stop auto firing/pick axeing, etc.

At first I had no idea how it was happening. But now I've finally realized it happens when I place down a fireplace or a trap. Once I switch to weapons, if I have a gun or my pickaxe out it automatically non stop starts shooting or hitting. The only way I've found to stop it is if I repeatedly switch to a non shooting item or my pickaxe and quickly press the shoot button. Is this a bug or is there a setting I accidentally enabled? It's really bad for when I'm sneaking around during end circles. Oh and I'm playing on a Note 9 if that helps.
