[2019] Can I only be logged to one device at a time?

So I have an iPhone that I use as my primary since I use at work. But I have an iPad and I was trying to log in to it and I just can seem to get in. I get a error message. Is it that I cannot be logged into both the iPhone and iPad at the same time? Any help will be appreciated thanks in advance.

You can not be logged into your account at the same time on two different devices or platforms. You will get kicked off of one.
