Hey, Epic dev here!

After a bit of poking around, I found the root cause of the issue.

We have a "vertex shader" on the trees, which makes them sway around in the wind a little bit. Unfortunately, they swaying quite a lot, and the actual collision of the tree doesn't update with it. There was up to ~1ft between where the branch you hit was rendering, and where its collision was.

I've addressed this issue for the next build, so the trees only move very closely around the actual collision.
