Whenever I select a hero and start loading the map my game client will freeze after loading for a while, then start playing the area I should have loaded into's music, but will not make any sounds in response to any keyboard input. I will then be unable to close the client by just right clicking and selecting "Close window" or by using task manager. The client stays maximized and does not minimize no matter what I do. Every time this happens, I am forced to restart my computer. This also happens if I try to change my screen resolution or display settings in-game. This has only ever happened in windows 10, I have had this game on windows 7 and windows 8, and I have not had a problem on either. I've tried googling for the past couple of days to no avail, I even checked the old megathread from a while back. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling gw2, and doing a clean install of my graphics drivers with geforce experience. I've also tried running the repair tool on the game.

Hey !

I have a similar problem with another game since I upgraded (and I use that term lightly...) to windows 10!

What you want to do is make sure Link State Power Management is set to OFF.

  • Control Panel > System and Security > Power Options
  • Change yourself to "High Performance"
  • Click "Change Plan Settings"
  • Click "Change Advanced Power Settings"
  • Scroll down to "PCI Express" and click the +
  • Click "Link State Power Management"
  • Click the Setting and change it to OFF.

Save everything. I changed this for both Balanced and High Performance. Before I was having the problem you describe with multiple games, I am all good now.

If for some reason this does not solve your problem please head over to our website and put in a ticket for technical help.

Thank you! I'll try it out asap Edit: Seems like it was already set to off. I guess I can log a support ticket. Thanks, though!
