Hi all,

It’s hard to believe it’s been two weeks already since the launch of Path of Fire! Our tradition is to hang out with you and do an AMA on launch day, but with a release this large, we needed to be all-hands-on-deck on launch day. Two weeks later, things are in good shape: we’re polishing details and getting ready for upcoming Live releases. Let’s take some time and chat.

Here’s who’s with us today.

From the Crystal Desert team – Clayton Kisko, Justin Reilly, Steve Huang, Tirzah Bauer, Tracey West

From the Mounts team – Dodge Lafnitzegger, Joel Helmich, Roy Cronacher, Steven Stadnicky

From the Story team – Bobby Stein, Connie Griffith, Connor Fallon, Matthew Medina, Peter Fries, Scott McGough

From the Elite Specs team – Irenio Calmon-Huang, Karl McLain

Bounties – Trevor Bennett

Cinematics – Chelsey Shuder

Combat Encounters – Benjamin Arnold

Engine - Jon Olson

Guild Halls – Devon Carlson

Production – Matt Lambdin

QA – Ester Sauter, James Murff, Laith Ahmad, Travis Battig

UI – Duncan Kay

Comms – Gaile Gray, Lis Cardy

Some ground rules. We’re here to chat with you about the new content and features of Path of Fire, but not to reveal future development. Also please respect that most players haven’t finished the story yet, so anything story-related should be spoiler-tagged. We checked with the mods and they don’t need you to spoiler-tag references to the “secret mount,” with 50,000 now in the world. You might want to skip this AMA if you want to avoid reading about it.

I wrote to you last time that I’m going to gradually hand the reins of GW2 game direction to Z, the lead designer of Path of Fire and an 11 year veteran of the company. I’m writing this intro but Z will be answering many of your questions today, and then we’ll switch up and have Z write the intro next time.

Finally, I want to personally thank you all for getting the word out about Path of Fire. We were blown away by your comments and votes in the recent /r/gaming thread, and by the user reviews you’ve been posting. When you give recommendations like that, that’s what convinces new players to try the game. Thank you all.

Praise Joko!

Mo

Edit: So many good questions, I almost lost track of time. Thank you all for joining us today! See you in the game!

It felt really satisfying. I hope you include more stuff like that in the future even though I'm pretty sure there's a way to get it with just the bunny.

It was intended for Griffon although your way of getting it was WAY fancier than the way I envisioned. Good job :D

  1. There were some leaks around the reddit lately regarding easy and hard mode raids: 1 . Crystal Reid said on forums that you won't be adding a different difficulty tier at this time. Has this changed meantime?

  2. How are things progressing with the next raid? We've been waiting for a while now and surely would like to hear some info. What rewards / system will the new raid use? Will it be only skins or there will be new infusions, gizmos like xera portal?

Hi! That message is really for Crystal! Her recent forum thread is still the right answer: we're not working on different difficulty tiers. We're focused on making great content and don't want to slow that down by multiplying the amount of work. We're hard at work on the next raid and development is going well; no announcements today.

Hello, Anet team! Amazing expansion, I feel like I'm back at the original launch... exploring, awe-struck by the views and scenery... really beautiful. Haven't felt like this with this game in years. I'm overall really happy about it. :)

My questions are mainly regarding the story, which I'm just not quite "feeling it" - though it does have some great moments! This will be broken apart for easier dev digestion.

Questions related to the devs

1. Is Ree Soesbee still writing for GW2? Are we going to get another novel by her, or some other author, sometime? I really liked them and I reckon a story of the time Elona was isolated would be great. The fight of the Sunspears against Joko, their resistance, Joko's side of the story or so on... so many stories that could fit a novel so well.

2. Is the open world narrative team different than the main story team? Are they the same? Writing so many stories, ambient dialogue (I'm one of those weirdos that stand around solely to hear them) and events seems like a gargantuan task for the same team.

Sadly, Ree has moved on and no longer works on ArenaNet. And we wish her the best.

The Narrative team for PoF had specific assignments, but there was a ton of overlap and virtually every Narrative person contributed to both open world and story steps.

Hello there!

I am one of those who really appreciated your work on Path of Fire and I am excited to see what the next Living World will bring in!

My questions are related to Legendaries, since PoF didn't have new ones on release.

1) Can we expect PoF exclusive Legendaries in the future updates? If yes, which types ( I remember you mentioned trinkets in an earlier AMA )?

2) Will there be Legendary Mounts in the future, considering there are "Legendary Gliders" tied to backpacks?

3) I am one of those weird guys that must ask this: Legendary Aquabreathers - will we ever see them?

Thank you all ArenaNet for your amazing production and I surely am one of those that will keep spreading the word! Keep it up!

Will there be Legendary Mounts in the future, considering there are "Legendary Gliders" tied to backpacks?

There are no plans right now for a legendary mount. We don't have different quality tiers of mounts, just different ways to acquire them like griffon vs the other mounts.

Being able to get to different places with different mounts feels absolutely wonderful, but switching from one mount to another via dismounting and then remounting is dissatisfyingly fiddly and frustrating, as has been shared and discussed here on reddit; this may make a player want to take a longer, more boring route just not to spam keys, wait, and spam keys again.

We know that it is technically possible to instantly remount to the "wild" mounts in the world, so have you considered changing mounts to be instantly cross-remountable (with the usual restrictions: not in combat, not in air, enough space) when pressing their respective keys while mounted? If not, is there some specific reason for the current behaviour?

This was considered during development but there were significant concerns from animation. However, we're looking into ways to streamline this process a bit.

Hey, I love you all and all of your work, thanks for everything! I still remember the wonder I felt 3-4 years ago when my mum (a secretary at the time for you guys, IIRC) showed me the game, and I feel like in the long run, GW2 has lived up to everything I dreamed and more. The new Scourge spec makes me really feel like I'm a Commander, or perhaps a tactician, sitting in the backline and pushing out barrier and conditions to help my allies in battle, and Deadeye really feels like the heavy-hitting sniper I always knew it could be.

So, I guess since this is an AMA I should ask you guys questions - and here are mine:

During development, did you ever get an idea while playing the game that found it's way into the game? For instance, "Oh, but what if X did Y," or "Hey, wouldn't this be a really cool thing to see in GW2?"

And then secondly, what was the absolutely flat out coolest thing that was either planned, or in development but ultimately had to be cut?

To respond to your last question: Amnoon was a lot larger initially but had to be downsized due to performance and to add more content to the other parts of the map. The noble quarter for example hadn't been devastated by a sandstorm!

Thanks for making the mounts drive like dump trucks, the entire feel is great, like we're actually mounted. How do you feel having mounts affects Central Tyria aka map completion?

The Zephyrite movement system is quite fun, seems like it took some effort to develop, but is limited to three places. I thought it was limited to these to minimize taking shortcuts in other maps, but mounts open up similar ways to travel. Did you play with using the Aspect movement system in more of the game (additional maps, as a Zepherite mount, or in the next xpac)?

I can't really touch on the zephyite skills as I wasn't part of that team, but having mounts usable everywhere in the open world was the plan from the start. We knew that with such a big addition to movement and exploration, it would feel bad if it was limited to just a few areas. It would feel like we gave you this great toy then took it away from you whenever you played elsewhere. We hope it'll encourage a lot of people to go back and play areas they have played before to see it with a fresh pair of eyes. Maybe even seen some map complete speed runs. xD

I was lead and mission designer for GW1, laying out the world. So returning to the Crystal Desert was really nostalgic. I enjoyed revisiting Augury Rock and the Trials of Ascension, missions remember designing. I put in the kids playing Ascension to help tell that GW1 story.

And finding a place to put the Flame Seeker Prophecies. The original text was written over a dozen years ago during Prophecies development. It's changed but to finally get it in game was cool.

It was something we've always wanted to do but didn't have time before. We wanted to add them into this expansion to give areas more moods from just day/night. You'll notice the rainstorm from the south of Riverlands will be on at the same time as the one in the north of Desolation too!

The storytelling has greatly improved with PoF. What (narrative) techniques did you look at to make those improvements? My assumption is that the lower amount of (main) allies helped a lot to develop better characters.

A smaller cast of characters definitely helped--it allowed us to spend more time with fewer characters and have more and more meaningful interactions with the folks in your party.

We also looked at how we were using Cinematics and decided that the more we could keep the player in control (via in game action instead of a cutscene), the stronger the player's narrative experience would be.

What made you decide to somewhat "sneak in" the gryphon mount into the expansion instead of straight up announcing it? Is it the potential flak from the playerbase that made you do it like this?

"What makes the desert beautiful is that somewhere it hides a well."

We announced a lot in advance, but we held back some things to preserve that sense of discovery on release day.

What was the weirdest bug that happened during development?

First off, there were many bugs that fit the bill of weird, and oftentimes funny (don't know if you had the chance to check out the mounts blooper reel from the Mounts Guild Chat).

One of my personal favorites was when I was playing Spellbreaker and I happened to mount up when the Bladestorm animation was still finishing. My character was permanently stuck in the sweeping animation he was making with the dagger, only without the dagger! This animation continued while mounted, and wouldn't go away even when I used a dev kill command on myself (in which case, I was a dead body, still animating the sweeping dagger attack from the waist up). Pretty funny stuff :)

One way story development changed from HoT to PoF was that in HoT, we started with a stable list of locations we wanted to visit, in the order we wanted to visit them. For PoF, we gave ourselves a lot more leeway to pick and choose the places we would go to support the story as it unfolded. And it's not like there was a shortage of awesome places to consider in the desert region...

This will likely stay. We currently don't really really have different classifications of transforms(they are used in all sorts of ways across the game) and a lot of them that would be cause issues or balance concerns if we let you mount and remove the transform.

Loved the expansion so far, the only downside I found was that I feel like I completed most of what was new quite quickly compared to HoT but since LW4 is coming quickly that doesn't feel like a real problem to me. In other words, amazing work guys !

Now onto the question.

What's the thing you had the most fun working on for this expansion ?

And what's the biggest technical challenge you faced that you can talk about ?

One of the things I enjoyed working on was trying to create memorable characters in the open world. The kids at First Camp are part of a family that has had some loss, so has Jingo. Giving the Followers of Ascension a motive why they seeking it. And how the last survivings sunspears still try to fight the good fight. Refering back to the GW1 characters in some way in the Desolaiton, that was really satisfying as well.

And finally as one who helped layout the worldmap for Tyria and Elona, just matching up some of the locations, and trying to show what became of them 250 years later. Not too many times you get to revisit areas that you worked on a decade later.

I personally really enjoyed trying to find ways to callback to GW1 and also to refer back to the events of Edge of Destiny, which happened offscreen, so to speak.

Getting everything right for the epic scene in the library was my personal challenge. It wasn't so much a technical challenge as much as it was a lot of coordinating with our awesome artists Tirzah Bauer and Phil Hunter to get everything right, and making sure that effect or this animation played exactly when it was supposed to and seamlessly transitioned to the next.

Appreciate the kind words about mounted movement, we think so too! Making the mounts feel like real creatures was one of the pillars of our design.

We're actually excited about seeing players enjoy mounts in the rest of the open world. For those of us where map completion is a means to an end (I'm looking at you, legendary weapons...), mounts could be quite the boon :)

It wasn't long into development for mounts when we decided we'd have to include them in the open world, just like we ended up doing with gliding. We hope you all enjoy the freedom of mounting up most anywhere just as much as us.

The Guild Wars 1 servers have been extremely laggy lately, almost to the point where it’s unplayable.

The issue usually comes when you alt-tab out of the game while in an explorable area. When you tab back in your character and NPCs start rubber banding across the whole map and it doesn’t go away.

Other people I have been playing with have also reported the issue. It happens when leaving from both American and European districts.

Is there anything that can be done about this?

We're migrating to a new datacenter in Europe that should have better peering, thus more consistent connectivity. Stephen, our studio technical director, just spun up new servers there last night. So try today?

The weaver is a nice spec.

There are a few changes being looked into for the Weaver, to improve some damage numbers with Sword. Barrier numbers overall have been balanced So that it’s a boost of survivability, but not the primary source of it. We’ve experienced periods of godlike weaver survivability (internally) due to barriers being too strong, so we’ll be careful with any increases. We’ll continue to monitor the numbers, analytics and feedback, but for right now we’re holding them where they are until the sword damage numbers shake out.

There was definitely a balance act between keeping Gw1 locations as close to the original as possible, or where we could fudge the edges a bit to give the area a Gw2 upgrade. For example for the Crystal Desert(crystal oasis) we took more artistic liberties with the terrain to make it play and look better, especially with mounts. But for some other areas we wanted to keep it closer to original for nostalgia.

Can you look into letting us interact with things, harvest nodes, open chests, etc., or at least make remounting after doing so much less painful?

Originally, you could interact with many things while mounted. However, there were a lot of cases where things would completely break if you interacted while mounted, especially in core Tyria. With the number of different kinds of things that can happen on interact, with some of them being quite complicated, it's a lot safer to dismount the player before taking those actions. We removed this to prevent those things from breaking while still maintaining consistency with behavior for the mount interactions in general.

Now onto the question.

What's the thing you had the most fun working on for this expansion ?

And what's the biggest technical challenge you faced that you can talk about ?

The most fun part for me was putting in little hidden jokes and goofy stuff for people to find.

Biggest technical challenge by far was getting a Skritt to wear boots. Then getting him to take them off.

There's just so many. Augury Rock because of the doppelganger fight and how many ways there were to approach it. My favorite though is probably the Maw of Torment, it's only gotten even more hauntingly beautiful with the Forged occupation.

The Bone Palace. It looks better than ever, and it made so much sense to me that Joko would build it up to be grand enough to suit his ego; plus, the lifelong horror movie fanatic in me loves the utter darkness of the idea it was expanded via the addition of a nation's worth of centaur bones.

I know when Justin did a fabulous job of remaking Augury Rock, it just brought back memories. I was running around the map and it made me remember the three ghostly heroes that were at base of Augury. What happened to those guys? Well, they're there.

Justin also was working on First Camp and there were four tents... and I was thinking, there were three trials and augury. What if we had kids help retell what happened in fun way.

And while working on the Desolation, we were trying to figure out how to include the Junundu wurms. Ben had a great idea to give them a bigger presence that made sense and we were able to fit them in. Hanging out at the perch and having the ghost guides recount old times was fun too.

Questions for the Writing Team

Questions on Balthazar and the Forged:

  1. Is the Herald of Balthazar actually as folks suspect?
  2. Balthazar seems to have changed quite a lot. He went from honorable combatant to proclaiming "I AM CONFLICT!" But we're never given a proper explanation for this change. Why did Balthazar turn from honorable god of war to evil god of war? He basically became Menzies, by all show of GW1 lore to now.
  3. What is the fate of Menzies? Now that Balthazar is killed, it seems rather pointless for us to ever deal with him now. Kind of like Malyck, his ship has sailed and we never got to see it.
  4. Why did you settle on using Balthazar as the antagonist for Path of Fire, rather than Dhuum, Menzies, or another god?
  5. What's the story behind the Forged accessing the Realm of Torment? As far as I could find, we're only told that they're calling reinforcements through the Mouth of Torment, but no explanation for why they're coming through there. Did Balthazar invade the Realm of Torment like he did the, or is he using the portal to move troops from the Fissure of Woe, or something else?

Questions on Kralkatorrik, Glint, etc.

  1. Which Elder Dragon is Glint the scion of? Kralkatorrik?
  2. Why does Kralkatorrik look so drastically different from both his appearance in GW1 (blue/silver skin, fleshy) and description in Edge of Destiny (he is now hollow, but EoD describes him as fleshy with ribs and a heart)?
  3. Mid-Story Spoiler
  4. There's a bit of a continuity error, by all appearances, in regards to the Forgotten. In Heart of Thorn's achievement, A Study in Gold, we're shown a speech by "the last Forgotten" as inscribed by an Exalted, thus this takes place before the Exalted went into hibernation over a century ago. However, after Glint's death and Kralkatorrik's awakening the Forgotten in large got branded. What's the story here? Was this a poor retcon, or is there something more?
  5. Mid-Story Spoiler

Other questions:

  1. Mid-Story Spoiler
  2. Late-Story Spoiler

4: The "last Forgotten" cited in HoT was the last Forgotten in Tarir, not the last Forgotten period. The Forgotten did not have 100% perfect communication between the two cities so they did not necessarily know exactly what was happening in their sister city at all times.

5) Earlier there was a comment on devs looking to older content like story and fractals for raid senarios. Any chance we will see fights like Shadow of the Dragon or Balthazar revisited?

6) Story and pacing wise how happy are the devs with season 3?

Overall, we’re still in conversation as to where it should go and which professions would get it, in what capacity. As an example: Guardian is controversial in this regard because it’s got a lot of support through hard mitigation and damage reduction, and adding yet another defensive mechanism may muddy its theme.

Likewise, Balth the god of war had been more or less idle since the Exodus, with very little in the way of human contact or terrestrial combat. He's a fiery god of action and he was champing at the bit for the chance to do what he was born to do (as he sees it).

I know this is about PoF, but an expansion like this, where you build so many new parts of the engine, and made sweeping changes to other ones, shows that it is possible, and to great effect.

So... can we please get the town clothes returned to the same basic functionality as armor? Mix-and-match. Heck, just let us use clothing pieces as skins on armor. Anything that lets us mix and match, rather than using the one-size-fits-all approach of tonics and outfits.

Also... any chance you're exploring backporting the (awesome) new movement system for the rest of the game? Seems like a big investment of time, but it sure would reduce the future code-load.

Hoping there's an animator in there somewhere, or someone close to it. :) First of all, as someone learning 3D animation, i have to say i'm in love with the mount animations, they are so interesting to look at and have so much weight and life to them! It's a real inspiration.

Now for a few questions:

-What's your favourite animation from GW2? (Mine still the rolling Asura laugh)

-In terms of animation, what's the biggest chunk of work in GW2 when it comes to making a new expansion? What was the biggest challenge. (for example, mounts, creatures, new elite spec skill animations?)

-What areas do you wish you could improve in terms of animations, but simply don't have the time to?

-Any handy tips and tricks for a starting animator trying to get into the game industry?

  • Favorite animation has to be the raptor set. Everything about the raptor I love! Also, I'm glad you like the Asura laugh. I animated that long, long ago when I used to be an animator (now I'm on the cinematics team).

  • While I was not on the animation team for the expansion (so don't quote me on this one) I would say it was probably the mount work that was the biggest chunk. Anything that will involve needing to create animation sets for every race and every gender will create a chain of work that can get massive in a hurry.

  • I can only answer this in regards to Cinematics. Right now I would like to push for more custom animation, more emotional acting both in the face and body. This becomes a time issue, but it is something I'm very passionate about and will always strive for! Time given. ;)

  • Feedback early and often! If you are working on an animation piece, always get feedback early in your process from someone who trust in both having an animation eye and the ability to teach you animation well. Practice makes perfect! Also, observe EVERYTHING. Out shopping? Pay attention to how someone walks, talks, buys something. Every little thing can be fascinating and soon you'll feel like a body language detective. ;)

For I suppose anyone really on the Story Team; I'm a prospective writer, looking to break into the world of writing as part of a team for group projects including video games, tabletop books (D&D / Warhammer etc). My question is, what do such teams look for when seeking to hire, and what aspects of my personal work / portfolio should be worked on in order to impress such teams? Its my dream job, but I've found information regarding this career path to be shockingly sparce; so I thought, why not ask the writers of one of my favorite ever-evolving stories? :)

Also, Praise Joko brothers and sisters! /salute

As someone who broke into the industry accidentally as a game writer, I'd say just follow your passion, keep writing, and find ways to get involved! I've run into a number of people who've asked me this same question over the years, and honestly there's a certain amount of luck involved. I personally got started while sitting in on creative development meetings as a producer. I realized I didn't just want to run meetings for story development, I wanted to DO story development, so I started taking writing classes at my local CC, signed up for online screenwriting courses, and asked if I could sit in on creative story meetings at work. I was already in the industry, so that made things easier, but I ended up having to make the difficult choice to leave my job as a producer at a big AAA company to pursue a writing role at a much smaller company, but it was the best decision I ever made!

QA team: "If you do your job right, people wont realize you've done anything at all" Working in software development, I understand the complexity of your job, and the massive responsibility to not get it wrong. We all know that some bugs and issues made it into launch, but I still want you to know that I think you did your part to help deliver one of the smoothest MMO expac launches out there. What was the funniest bug you dealt with during testing, and what was the most infuriating bug you had to help squash?

Funniest: Early on in the Domain of Vabbi map, there were issues with an event-specific Awakened NPC team that would make any NPCs on that team hostile to the Vabbian Noble team, which they were supposed to be friendly towards. But the nobles' team was not hostile in return. So you'd arrive at an outpost after this event, and see an Awakened Canid viciously beating the hell out of all these dainty nobles, who could do nothing but run around helplessly and die.

Infuriating: Chapter 2 (Blazing a Trail) has a mixture of open world and instanced story progression. Each of those can be tricky to test in multiplayer alone, but this was a single story step with both, including multiple instances that could be entered in whatever order the player preferred, one of which sets a special permanent progression on the character record (Spoiler). Tracking down all the problems with playing that chapter in multiplayer, and getting it to work right without wrecking people's accounts and story progress made us all want to tear our hair out.

Hi there, Arenanet Devs! I made an account just to ask this little lore question, seeing as it has caused over five pages of debate on the GW2RP forums. I don't really expect an answer, and honestly someone might have beaten me to this, but I figured what the hell.

How common would the usage of these griffons as a mount be to the average Elonian lower/middle class citizen? Nobles? Outlanders? If the Elonian griffons are uniquely rare, is it possible that large specimens of other griffon species could be used as a mount (in theory) more commonly?

Mountable griffons are universally rare, so the average Elonian simply doesn't have access. We made them difficult to obtain and put a big block of lore behind the acquisition of them to convey just how unusual they are for anyone who isn't at the player's level of skill and commitment. Even the richest Elonian noble would find that cold cash is not enough.

Lore-wise, it's definitely possible that there are more-accessible griffons out there that could become mounts, if trained properly, etc., but the ones we know about now are very rare and very hard to obtain.

  • Will we ever see new guild missions and content outside of guild halls? Even if it's just "run X bounties in the desert"?
  • Will we see fixes to the randomization of guild missions so we don't get the same missions, bounties, etc. on subsequent weeks?
  • Will we see new guild rewards?
  • Will we see new guild world events (ala the ability to trigger teq or triple trouble on demand)? Guild only world events?
  • Will guild rewards ever be adjusted to remove the dependence on individual players running Dragon Stand repeatedly (the Crystalline ore costs)? These never really made sense since running DS as a guild is almost impossible due to how the reset works and also running DS as much as is needed for the current reward set is pretty ludicrous.

We don't have a guild content team, so as to the "will we ever..." questions, we have no official plans there.

You may recall that one of my goals as GD was to have fewer dev teams, with more staffing for each team, so that we could be more consistent in the things deliver. My thought is: is you play because you enjoy what we've been shipping, then you should enjoy what we're going to be shipping next. We laid down a clear path in Season Three and that's the path we're continuing to follow.

We do have passionate devs who sometimes work in their spare time. But again, nothing currently in development.

One of the things I loved most about the original game was the details of the dynamic events - how almost every NPC persisted in between events and how the state of the map changed around them as they succeeded or failed.

With Path of Fire it seems that there are very few long chain events, the state of the world is often identical whether they succeed or fail, and rather than move and reset organically, NPCs tend to run a short distance and despawn when events finish.

What were the reasons for moving away from the deeper style of event? It makes me so sad to see that one of the things I've always loved most about this game seems to not be as much of a part of it any more.

There are still NPCs who persist between event and follow a chain of events. The chain to open augury rock, another to the Deadhouse both affect player access to those locations. Those involve NPCs that tie the events together. But it's true that those are on a smaller scale than HoT event chains.

One thing to keep mindful of in trying to make a world filled with active events, is that having too many chained events means only some of those events can be active at a time. So it's a balance.

The entire Narrative team really got behind the idea of these two very sharp, very dark personalities taking shots at each other in both a sort of competition and mutual grudging respect. They're kind of like brothers that way (at least, like me and my brother), or at least, brothers in arms. They may not always like each other or agree with each other, but when the fighting starts they know they can at least count on each others' abilities.

To follow up on this a bit, there are some thoughts for how to handle mounting up while in certain transforms, but they will all require a fair bit of internal rejiggering and that tends to be an expensive undertaking.

Glad you noticed and enjoyed all the call backs to GW1 we put in. Just like when we planned the maps for original release of Core Tyria, we would look at the GW1 worldmaps and ask what was memorable and what could've survived 250 years and how would it be changed. As Tirzah said, we try to keep landmarks in the same locations. I'm one of a handful on the team who helps make sure locations line up pixel perfect if possible. That said, perceptive players will notice that we had to shift landmarks around, such as Augury Rock, which is slightly south of its original location.

All our environment artists are amazing in how they have translated Crystal Desert maps and Elona 250 years into the future. Some like Justin F, Jesse C, and Darrin all worked on the original GW1, so they know those areas well.

What was the single biggest heartbreak moment?

Happiest: Watching the announcement live with all of the players. There's something special about getting to finally show off all of your hard work after pouring so much passion into it. It's even more special when you get such a positive reaction like PoF did.

Biggest heartbreak: Spoiler

In the Domain of Vabbi, doing a /salute by a statue of Joko will cause your character to shout "Praise Joko!" and give you credit towards an achievement. However, if you try to /salute again at the same statue, you'll be informed that you've already saluted at this statue and no exclamation will occur.

Can this be fixed to allow for Joko praise to be repeated? I'm currently living in worry of my fate once I've used /salute at each statue. My character will no longer be able to verbally praise Joko. That leaves me with no reason to live!

You speak as if this was a problem. Once you have shown your loyalty to our glorious god-king by undertaking his divine pilgrimage, make the ultimate statement of commitment to him by joining his Awakened army! Feel secure in the knowledge that you'll be praising our father-king for the remainder of your unlife.
