[2020] Did anyone else just get a free Scrapper's Mask?

I was just opening some daily chests in my home instance on my Mesmer main, when all of a sudden a treasure chest pops up. Clicking it awarded me the Scrapper's mask and achivement for having unlocked the entire skill tree.

At first, I thought that maybe Engineers had gotten some tweak this last patch that'd interact with their achiements, and that my Engineer alt must have fulfilled the criteria for this achivement but not qualified for the reward until now. I did note that there were some Scrapper changes in the patch note... But then I realised that my Engineer is a Holo-smith, and has never fully unlocked the Scrapper ES. Logged onto her just now to confirm.

So, did anyone else have this or something similar to this happen? Is it okay for me to keep the mask, or do I need to open a ticket?

The bouncy chest was not obscured by anything else, no. The one thing I did before it popped was opening up a Winter's Day giftbox from the home instance tree node. It awarded me a snowflake and a Scoop of Mintberry Swirl Ice Cream.

I did not enter the home instance of any alt. Only on my Human Mesmer.

My character's are Damon Cousland (Human Mesmer) and Insufferable Expert (Asura Engineer). Do you require my account name?

This is pretty strange... a few more questions for you (thanks for helping me figure this out BTW):

Can you please provide a screenshot of the completed achievement in the hero panel?
Do you use either of these characters for SPvP? If so, do you participate in no-progress custom arenas at all?
Which home instance did you enter when the issue occurred?
To the best of your memory, what did you do on your account leading up to going into the home instance? Was it as cut and dry as logging into the mesmer and heading in to do your daily gathering stuff?

Here is a picture of the Fix-r-Upper achivement. I'm hovering over the Scrapper Mask requirement, which is unlocked when you unlock the Scrapper elite specialization. I don't know if there's an achievement for unlocking the ES, aside from through that mask.

I rarely engage in sPvP. It happens on occasion, for dailies, but not recently.

I entered Fort Salma (Human, Noble, Lyssa).

I don't recall doing anything out of the ordinary. Log in, Mesmer, load into Emberbay where I'm parked, open the Ley-Matter Energy Converter to buy a key. Use the Home Portal Stone to enter the home instance. Ran straight to the Winter's Day box, opened it, ran over to the Heart of Thorns containers, and that's when I noticed the floating chest. The only thing out of the ordinary, I suppose, is that the Converter had a Large bag of Obsidian this day, which I bought.

I assume you mean the Salma District... Fort Salma would be a little spooky, and the density of vines would make navigation difficult. Hehe.

Can you (and also /u/yogadrunk if they don't mind) tell me what elite specs you have trained for mesmer, and if either spec is partially trained, to what level?

My Mesmer has both Chronomancer and Mirage fully unlocked.

No solid leads on this still, though based on player submitted bugs it's happening more often that I'd hoped... We have a fix that might handle the issue, but need to test it thoroughly to ensure it doesn't break anything else. No release ETA. In the meantime, enjoy your cool helm skin!
