During the recent Steam outage, a change in how Steam’s API verified expansion ownership caused Guild Wars 2 Steam accounts to be incorrectly marked as Play for Free accounts, regardless of their actual status. Once we identified the issue, we implemented a fix to restore the correct expansion status for all affected players. No progress or items were lost, and all impacted accounts have been returned to their proper status.
This issue lasted for approximately ten hours. We understand how frustrating and concerning this was for those affected, and we sincerely apologize. To thank you for your patience, we are applying 800 gems to all impacted accounts. No action is needed—your gems will be automatically applied later today and will be available for use the next time you log in.
