I just downloaded the free trial version of Final Fantasy 14 online. Certainly a great quality game. After playing "GW2", the first thing I noticed in "FFXIV" is the rather muted ambient sound effects that really didn't convey the sense that I was in a large area with lots of people compared to "GW2". GuildWars2 really gives you the sense that your in a vast open area with a lot of stuff going on, like the murmur of hundreds of people talking or the echo of grinding metal far away. It's really quite immersive compared to other games I've played. Sound engineers for games should really use "GW2" as a great example on creating an immersive 3D soundscape for large open areas that many games seem to lack. Just a small detail that I don't think anyone mentioned before.
