This is a reasonable question and I'm happy to provide some context. The tldr is "Harder than you'd think!" It's a matter of the work and time behind each method of communication. In game mail, UI updates, and website updates all require work from multiple teams, planning well in advance, and shipping a game update or website publish. Forum announcements are something that I can do independently in just a few minutes, and posts on our social media platforms are something that our Social Media Manager can do on pretty short notice. (Extra thanks to our localization team for giving me rush translations to our other supported languages so I could provide the notice to all of our community) We've been discussing ways to improve communication and while this is of course not the only change to be made, it came up as something that we could do now. Even if we weren't able to publish across all channels in and out of game, we wanted to provide the reminder where we could.

That requires a game build as well, unfortunately. That's something I specifically checked on--I had the text written and localized and was happy to share for the purpose of an in game mail. 😄
