The AMAs put on by Arenanet are frankly incredible- it’s wonderful for a gaming company to take the time out to do this kind of public communication. For a company that plays close to the chest, the AMAs really bring them out of their shells.

However, is anyone noticing a decline in quality of both answers and what answers we are getting?

Anything about WvW or PvP is left unanswered, along with balance questions. ANet is within their rights to ignore anything they want- after all, the whole thing is a voluntary exercise- but it feels extremely disheartening to know that people’s favourite game mode is taboo. Even a request for acknowledgement, that something is coming, does not see the light of day.

The AMAs have gone for me from a post of great excitement to a post that functions entirely as a positive PR release for ANet. And whilst this is entirely the point of the AMAs, it leaves me totally deflated to read.

As one of the devs in the AMA, it's mostly because the devs that are participating in the AMA following a Living World release don't work on PvP, WvW, class balance, gemstore, or other things that people ask questions about, and we don't know the answers to those questions. Arenanet has hundreds of people, and we don't all know details on what developers working on different parts of the game are doing or what they have planned. Even where we might know some of what is being worked on, we typically don't know enough to give details or speak officially on those topics.
