Just something that I've been thinking.

Halo's 1 through 4 runs on the same base engine, which was modified and improved game after game. You can see this for yourself in the latest post where they show parts of the source and comments from 1999.

What this means is that after porting one game, they probably will not have to start from scratch for the other ones, especially on the things they said they're working on such as the interfaces and control stuff.

This doesn't mean the games are all coming soon, they will probably come soon enough and won't take years as some are worried they will.

But that's just my theory, A Game development theory.

It's hard to say really... The team does feel that Reach is probably the most challenging of all the titles being worked on and thus will take the most time. A good chunk of this initial work will pay dividends across the rest of the roadmap - i.e. stuff like the flighting pipelines, build management, etc... So, definitely not 'starting from scratch' with the other titles and we expect/hope that once Reach is out, the others shouldn't take the same amount of time. That said, it'll all be driven by flighting and quality so we'll have to see how it goes and take the time needed to get it right.
