What happened?

We're seeing multiple reports that bans are going live for people that were using Grifball and other playlists to boost XP in MCC. It looks like anyone who took part is subject to a ban for up to a month, but we've also seen shorter bans. As of now we don't know if all bans have rolled out or if it will happen over a period of time.

This is the dedicated thread to discuss the bans. This thread will also be kept updated with any additional news on the bans.

Updates

Halo Support on Twitter:

We are aware of players negatively impacting the experience for others by attempting to artificially advance through the progression system in MCC. We have investigated these reports, taken action on known offenders, and will follow-up with additional action as needed.

Unyshek on Twitter:

If you believe that the system caught you by accident, please submit a ticket on the @HaloSupport site: http://aka.ms/HaloSupport

"Why Did I Get Banned?" page on Halo Waypoint:

What other types of actions can result in a ban?

  • Types of violation include, but are not limited to, the following example actions:
  • Idling through games, habitual quitting, suiciding, betraying, dodging matches or any other type of unsociable and unsportsmanlike behavior
  • Manipulating matchmaking, the progression system, and/or the ranking system

As a reminder, Rule 1 is in effect. Being rude or insulting toward other users (whether they're confirmed boosters, pro-ban, etc.) still breaks Rule 1 and could result in a 2 day tempban.
