In a 1v1, I don’t see why the worse player should be rewarded with a kill because he has RNG on his side while the better player dies because his bullets decided to fly around the enemy’s head even though the enemy was right in the center of the crosshair.
Kills should be rewarded via skill, not luck. Encouraging people to pace their shots is pointless; Halo is already a game with slower TTK than most other FPS games, and having bloom just gives worse players a random advantage without encouraging them to actually improve their aim and learn to put their crosshair on the enemy in a gunfight.
343 did the right thing with removing bloom in some playlists back in 2011, but they are not doing the right thing now by bringing it back to MCC. I’ve been playing the Reach flight recently and it’s just too annoying when it takes 4 headshots to kill someone with no shields because the bullets decided to fly around his head.
“Just pace your shots”... That’s a great way for me to get killed. Let me fire my DMR slowly while the enemy doesn’t pace their shots (by firing quickly) and still kills me because bloom decided to be generous to them. It’s all luck, and luck shouldn’t play such a major role in every gunfight in a video game. Why even force me to pace my shots when you can just remove bloom and prioritize aiming over pacing?
