s | good morning children exam season is |
---|---|
s | once again upon us 16 of our finest |
s | students stepped up to try and make the |
s | grade for the fifth time this year but |
s | not all can receive the coveted pass |
s | there are lessons to be learned and |
s | there are grades to be assigned so |
s | without further ado i am once again |
s | subtle your demon head caster and it's |
s | time to open your textbooks to page 11 |
s | and take extensive notes because this is |
s | lobby legends great |
s | our first aspiring student is ribapusa |
s | who after making it to the final lobby |
s | in lobby legends 4 once again stepped up |
s | to the plate but mere attendance is not |
s | enough to secure a passing grade so |
s | let's take a look at the results |
s | starting out right at the beginning with |
s | a milhouse game which is something of a |
s | specialist subject for your dear head |
s | caster we joined the game at a pivotal |
s | moment riba pusa finds himself in top |
s | two against an opponent registering as |
s | demons now stats do matter in this |
s | encounter and milhouse is generally |
s | excellent at exploiting scaling minions |
s | like a nomia bran or in this case little |
s | rack many players would be tempted here |
s | to simply continue to buy and sell small |
s | buffs and small stat increases to try |
s | and out scale the opponent but reba |
s | instead diverts and rolls more |
s | aggressively with milhouse looking for a |
s | wildfire triple or for finishing tech |
s | cars like leroy or additional divine |
s | shields eventually sells out the little |
s | rag completely and abandons his scaling |
s | rolling with milhouse is a risky game |
s | but as we can see from the eventual |
s | fight he was drastically outscaled and |
s | needed something just a little bit extra |
s | to happen to take down the win this is |
s | good decision making and game state |
s | recognition from our returning player |
s | in the very next game ribapusa finds |
s | himself back on the milhouse once again |
s | and being faced with one of milhouse's |
s | greatest assets in this meta the ability |
s | to buy a bunch of minions and complete |
s | quests early in this situation though he |
s | seemingly makes a mess of a couple of |
s | turns choosing over the course of two |
s | turns to sacrifice quest completion in |
s | order to float gold and buff tavern |
s | tippers on this second occasion his |
s | small buffs on the tavern tippers means |
s | that he sacrifices an entire turn of |
s | 12-12 buffs on the cyclone he has in |
s | hand which is questionable at best and i |
s | think his facial expressions seem to |
s | betray his dissatisfaction ribapusa ends |
s | up dying to a ghost in this game which |
s | is usually a sign you've made some |
s | sub-optimal life decisions amazingly for |
s | a player who we were informed by the |
s | korean community has a reputation for |
s | safe and consistent play we join him |
s | again in a high risk high reward economy |
s | style hero as he's presented with a huge |
s | gallywix turn hitting three five drop |
s | triples on turn six and picking up |
s | elemental scaling with all three of them |
s | from here it's a matter of scrapping to |
s | survive the two turns he needs before he |
s | becomes the absolute unstoppable force |
s | of game three ending up in an entirely |
s | unassailable position just a few short |
s | turns later his navigation of the turns |
s | needed to survive those two turns was |
s | expertly done however and surviving that |
s | last 15 health break point is super |
s | crucial when you get heavy scaling like |
s | this |
s | and finally we see ribapusa |
s | demonstrating what i believe to be the |
s | most crucial skill in high-level |
s | battlegrounds during this quest meta |
s | which is processing all of the |
s | information that the game throws at you |
s | on many of the turns this turn in |
s | particular presents an absolutely |
s | massive amount of information there's |
s | just a lot going on double calgos with |
s | anima bribe highly incentivizes buying |
s | and selling in order to create stats |
s | both on board and in the shop you have a |
s | web smuggler which is a debatable keep |
s | in terms of whether you need those extra |
s | stats the sacrifice of keeping the small |
s | minion on board but reba recognizes a |
s | piece of information far more important |
s | than any of that which is what his |
s | opponent is doing young chang will be |
s | showing mirror shield and murlocs when |
s | you mouse over him on the side which |
s | means divine shield poison murlocs are |
s | very very likely so no matter how hard |
s | you pump your stats with anima bribe and |
s | with kalagos you risk losing the fight |
s | and therefore the game to divine shield |
s | poison murlocs |
s | ribapusa therefore diverts to the tunnel |
s | blaster instead saving the fight and in |
s | fact his uh his own life meaning he |
s | becomes the first player to put the |
s | lobby in check as a result this is just |
s | perfect game state recognition from a |
s | very composed player |
s | and so our report card for riba pusa |
s | he made top eight and set the early pace |
s | on day two |
s | he showed a wide variety of play styles |
s | responding to the current situation as |
s | required excellently |
s | it did make a few sloppy errors and some |
s | questionable decisions nonetheless |
s | b-plus |
s | constructed icon turned battlegrounds |
s | aficionados xo is one of the strongest |
s | multi-discipline hearthstone players the |
s | game has ever seen and in his lobby |
s | legends stream debut we must take the |
s | opportunity to pass judgement on zixo |
s | from my lofty perch |
s | to my disappointment however he actually |
s | played really well so this is all |
s | sickeningly positive oh well we'll get |
s | through it |
s | joining zixo in game three he is playing |
s | dancing daryl with the coveted anima |
s | bribe quest despite fears from the live |
s | casters that zixo may take damage in the |
s | early game while setting up for the huge |
s | dances zixo is wise and they are foolish |
s | zixo spends the early game taking a |
s | number of small dance turns instead |
s | effectively spending as much gold as |
s | possible on every turn buying and |
s | selling minions and resisting the urge |
s | to roll looking for good targets some |
s | people would argue this is the correct |
s | way to play daryl regardless but in the |
s | case of anima bribe it's doubly smart |
s | due to the stats returning to the shop |
s | on every cell zixo can afford to fill |
s | his board with medium-sized minions |
s | defend his health total while completing |
s | the quest safe in the knowledge that |
s | none of those juicy stats will be wasted |
s | when he sells them back to the shop |
s | later this is textbook the game ends up |
s | locking in zixo's top eight spot since |
s | despite lorinda's claim to the country |
s | daryl always comes third stop it zottle |
s | and now to probably one of the most |
s | difficult to play turns in the whole |
s | event what you're watching is a great |
s | lesson in how to play towards your quest |
s | specifically as a win condition although |
s | xo had a great looking setup for |
s | elementals with lil rag three refreshes |
s | and a genie he recognized that with a |
s | baron already in play his true win |
s | condition was to look towards omega |
s | buster and mex the reason being his |
s | quest reward stolen gold which instantly |
s | grants him a golden buster and a golden |
s | baron at the start of each fight wildly |
s | eclipsing the stats he would gain from |
s | multiple turns of lil rag scaling even |
s | with a near perfect setup simply using |
s | the elemental economy engine is exactly |
s | that to power through roles and find |
s | triples he completes a smooth transition |
s | over to mex despite bob constantly |
s | trying to bait him down the elemental |
s | path with repeated lil rags and smoggers |
s | this is complete laser focus on finding |
s | the winning composition despite there |
s | being some missed actions on the last |
s | few rolls due to time constraints this |
s | is just a beautifully navigated turn |
s | very very well played in the closing |
s | stages of that very same game xo then |
s | also wins the tech card battle a crucial |
s | component in turning a top four into a |
s | first his opponent seisei has tucked in |
s | the customary zap to try and remove the |
s | baron and kangors from zixo's board but |
s | zixo having seen the tech already is way |
s | too smart for that and finds the |
s | smallest possible murloc gives it poison |
s | with a toxifin and then zap just goes |
s | colliding into the two attack minion |
s | immediately killing itself in the |
s | process there is no place for bullies in |
s | my schoolyard zap pick on someone your |
s | own size |
s | i think even then with golden buster |
s | guaranteed |
s | probably this is too big |
s | you think so |
s | yeah the faux roof is gonna have to do |
s | some serious work |
s | not now it's not no that's there we go |
s | even i can see this one now |
s | well played by say to say a nice uh |
s | uh series of plays that felt like it |
s | gave him a chance if sixo hadn't found |
s | that uh poisoned to attack murloc then |
s | maybe there was some opportunities for |
s | cece to close out but not gonna be the |
s | case as zixo gets his first real |
s | turnaround of the tournament after a |
s | disastrous start to the first four games |
s | of the day and so to the final verdict |
s | for zixo |
s | he found great win conditions in |
s | non-obvious positions |
s | he was an anima bribe enjoyer |
s | he kept a cool head in game through some |
s | emotionally testing situations and very |
s | nearly came back from eighth in the |
s | standings to winning the whole thing |
s | it's an a |
s | before i leave it would be remiss of me |
s | not to mention our eventual winner rim |
s | gosu who had some great moments himself |
s | with his final end game positioning |
s | battle against zixo with cleaves and zap |
s | up against xo's leaper comp being a |
s | particular highlight but this was a |
s | crazy event with six players going into |
s | the final lobby with the ability to win |
s | the whole tournament having the lobby in |
s | check so i simply do not have enough |
s | time to highlight every player who |
s | deserves it in this video |
s | congratulations nonetheless go to |
s | rimgosu for a fantastic performance |
s | overall but those are my grades you can |
s | feel free to argue about them in the |
s | comments if you'd like and make sure to |
s | subscribe to this channel and to |
s | hearthstone esports on all relevant |
s | channels to keep up to date with all the |
s | esports action remaining in the year i |

s | you |
