s | hello children welcome back to class i |
---|---|
s | hope you all remember the homework i set |
s | over the weekend |
s | yes |
s | what was that |
s | the assignment i set for the weekend |
s | to watch battlegrounds lobby legends |
s | fire festival featuring 16 of the |
s | world's best battlegrounds players one |
s | of the world's best battlegrounds |
s | casters and raven |
s | oh you did remember oh good perfect in |
s | which case let's get on with it and find |
s | out who passed with flying colours who |
s | requires some one-on-one tuition my name |
s | is soto i remain your demon head caster |
s | and welcome to lobby legends graded |
s | starting out with a very difficult one |
s | to assess alucard to my eyes at the very |
s | least seemed to make consistently good |
s | decisions with very sound reasoning but |
s | perhaps in some spots just took too long |
s | to make them let's take a look |
s | initially everything looked fantastic |
s | for alucard's specific style of play cut |
s | out of the beginning of this clip for |
s | your viewing convenience is about 30 |
s | seconds of alucard doing absolutely |
s | nothing as he sat with his triple in |
s | hand considering his options however |
s | once he springs into action the turn is |
s | incredibly clean he buffs a second |
s | deflecto discounts his tavern levels to |
s | five finds and uther creates another big |
s | divine shield torn and then still has |
s | exactly enough time to get the |
s | positioning right and dump the final |
s | banana right as the timer hits zero |
s | there was minimal rolling perfect gold |
s | allocation excellent efficiency it was |
s | just a textbook battlegrounds turn and |
s | it was a crucial turn to get right as he |
s | was in the 15 health danger zone and |
s | although he lost the subsequent fight |
s | the power of his turn kept him alive at |
s | two a great start for alakad |
s | after finishing second in his semi-final |
s | lobby alucard was able to progress |
s | through to sunday where he set the early |
s | running in the first game of the day |
s | alucard was gifted the elusive beasts |
s | shudderwock game although the beast |
s | themselves continued to be elusive |
s | fittingly for a half vampire alucard had |
s | to make do with blood gems as his early |
s | battle cries and then find something |
s | just a little more creative to do with |
s | his curve choosing deliberately to hold |
s | a triple off-board and stay on one for |
s | an additional turn with the tavern |
s | already costing zero in order to fish |
s | for more alley cats although this didn't |
s | pay off for him because of the |
s | ridiculous amount of gold saved back |
s | from the swappy triple he could afford |
s | to do it with no drawback to his later |
s | tripling curve and it shows a lot of |
s | foresight |
s | in game two of the final lobby alucard |
s | picked up a lich king and played an |
s | incredibly interesting game full of |
s | tricky choices and weird pivot decisions |
s | he spent a large period of the game |
s | floating halfway between a pirate exodia |
s | build and a khadgar reborn poison scam |
s | build both pretty effective strategies |
s | with lich king but both good and bad |
s | against different opponents and |
s | different builds one player in this |
s | particular game had a giant 150 plus |
s | health minion from tripling battle |
s | masters which required poison but others |
s | had more divine shield based builds |
s | better dealt with by the pirate comp |
s | alcar's decision making to dance between |
s | the two builds at different times |
s | whether to reborn the poison whether to |
s | reborn the eliza which triple to take |
s | and so on were incredibly interesting |
s | and it was a decision made far more |
s | difficult by the game offering up both |
s | sides of his comp in a head-to-head |
s | triple with eliza versus mantid he ended |
s | up moving fully into exodia while |
s | creating a battle baron to play around |
s | zap and being rewarded for it as he was |
s | able to take down the giant health |
s | minion in his final fight without the |
s | need for poison for me this might well |
s | be the best played game of the |
s | tournament |
s | okay enough praise let's get a little |
s | bit nitpicky although alucard's slow and |
s | considered style does clearly lead to |
s | some excellent deliberate decisions the |
s | slow pace can of course get you into |
s | trouble with the rope on occasion in |
s | game three after turning down his hero |
s | power on his first triple a card is |
s | offered good old branny bronzebeard in a |
s | murloc lobby that is a huge recipe for |
s | success but fast forward a couple of |
s | turns and alucard's insistence on taking |
s | his time possibly comes back to bite him |
s | wasting a large portion of his time on |
s | deciding which prize to take and other |
s | slow actions he reaches the end of his |
s | turn and is unable to continue to pop |
s | off with an additional reef explorer and |
s | primal finn both of which will make him |
s | at least one gold profit and possibly |
s | significantly more there was a lot more |
s | still to do on this term potentially |
s | alucard ends up losing this fight by two |
s | health but in fairness does go on to |
s | absolutely obliterate the rest of the |
s | lobby this game however since he missed |
s | out on being the first player to check |
s | the lobby by a mere 0.5 points these are |
s | the kind of moments that could have |
s | contributed to that shortfall |
s | so end of term report |
s | alucard consistently made decisions that |
s | genuinely made me stop and think about |
s | the game |
s | alucard was the highest point earner in |
s | the final despite not winning the |
s | tournament |
s | alcarde takes time to make sure the big |
s | decisions are correct |
s | but alucard does have a case of boomer |
s | apm |
s | overall a minus |
s | and so to our eventual winner kid5 |
s | really grew into the tournament over the |
s | course of two days only initially making |
s | the top eight through tie breakers over |
s | honeybow on day one but then running out |
s | with the big prize on sunday let's get |
s | into it |
s | right from the offset in game one kid 5 |
s | showed he understood the assignment |
s | perfectly as outlined on multiple |
s | occasions by nina picking up a test in a |
s | mech lobby he laser focused on the idea |
s | of playing the optimal order strategy of |
s | a green spot divine shield comp |
s | this can be shown here as he picks up a |
s | time thief prize but holds on to it |
s | until later greeting it until he fights |
s | against a greasebot player so he can |
s | then discover the greasebot and use a |
s | test roll to pick up a second one all in |
s | a single turn even after his triples |
s | missed he was never deterred never |
s | baited into doing anything other than |
s | mex good stuff at the end of this very |
s | same game kid5 shows that his micro |
s | decision making is on par with his macro |
s | game plans as he makes some very cool |
s | choices in the late game positioning |
s | battle in top 2 his board is potentially |
s | vulnerable to three things tunnel |
s | blaster leroy sniping his mono taunt |
s | mackerel and huge cleaves with potential |
s | wind fury he manages to engineer a |
s | situation where he plays around all of |
s | the above by creating an extra torn to |
s | play around the leroy but also placing a |
s | small reset harvest golem next to both |
s | of those taunts to create a divine |
s | shield reset against an opposing cleave |
s | even giving it divine shield itself so |
s | it would soak both attacks from windfury |
s | his opponent also plays this exchange |
s | very well massively rearranging boards |
s | to stop many of kid five's plans from |
s | working but this is the kids section so |
s | we're focusing on him before his |
s | glorious climax on day two however kidd |
s | was left biting his nails at the end of |
s | day one as he took a fat eighth in the |
s | final lobby of the day and had to look |
s | on nervously while his fate was decided |
s | by other players the final turn has a |
s | lot of questions and is worth looking at |
s | in more detail |
s | before we even join him he turns down a |
s | sunbacon relaxer which represents two |
s | spells for his atheists but that's |
s | understandable with his pressing need to |
s | find a demon for the golden devourer he |
s | does however then turn down a reef |
s | explorer which could have offered him a |
s | demon in order to roll down one more |
s | time which is questionable and causes |
s | him to have to sell an extra minion to |
s | pick up the much needed 2-4 kid ends up |
s | dying on this fight was there a line |
s | that keeps him alive |
s | let's wrap it up for kid 5. |
s | a high-risk high-reward playstyle that |
s | was incredibly fun to watch |
s | won the whole damn tournament so it's |
s | hard to argue with that |
s | possibly missed some small details which |
s | made his life harder than it needed to |
s | be |
s | and named himself entirely to troll a |
s | previous competitor |
s | that alone is worth a b-plus |
s | despite not even finishing on ladder let |
s | alone making it through the qualifier |
s | shift azaris was too much of a |
s | narcissist not to show up anyway and |
s | make the whole event about them |
s | well i suppose i'll just have to bow to |
s | the pressure so here is the greatest |
s | hits of shifter zerus |
s | again uh oliak is playing the omu hero |
s | power oh |
s | feels good and bad at the same time i |
s | think satellite very much wanted |
s | something that was playable |
s | unfortunate |
s | is cool all those errors could be a |
s | golden greaseport another 12 damage |
s | again kid5 looking pretty okay in the |
s | standings but |
s | every player will not want zero points |
s | oh it's time out do a little prayer oh |
s | he does not look happy |
s | but you can't help but laugh when that |
s | happens yeah actually weirdly enough the |
s | replicating men is someone from oh |
s | no |
s | oh |
s | give me a minute i'm finding an official |
s | bug report |
s | at this point because that is no |
s | shifter zerus no way row |
s | oh no |
s | everyone watching you were here oh it's |
s | a hundred percent zerus so far |
s | and on that note we shall end let me |
s | know what you think of my grading |
s | process in the comments tell me what |
s | grade you'd give shift to zerus based on |
s | their performance in this tournament |
s | take care everyone and i will see you |
s | next time lobby legends rolls around |
s | goodbye |
s | you |
