2s talk in our series talking about
4s Battleground season four I'm Mitchell
6s I'm Dominic and we're designers on the
8s Battlegrounds Hearthstone team uh
10s talking about all the new content that's
11s coming out today we're going to talk
12s about the last two mini types being
14s added which are quilbore and Max so
16s let's just jump right into it with
17s billboard so this uh season what cool
20s Board gets to do is more blood gem
21s manipulation so in the past you would be
23s able to get a lot of blood gems and
24s there's some videos that cared about
25s playing blood gems on them but the blood
27s gems itself just kind of stayed as the
29s static plus one plus ones now you have
31s ways to grow your blood gems way bigger
32s than that one minion you can use is Moon
34s bacon jazzer which is Battle Cry For the
36s Rest of game your blood Gins give an
38s extra plus one health or prickly Piper
40s which is death rattle for the rest of
41s your game your blood gems give an extra
43s plus one attack but these you can scale
45s your blood gems to these ginormous stat
48s givers uh way bigger than your Baseline
50s plus one plus one I think in some places
51s I've seen together as big as about plus
53s 17 plus 17 which is really big yeah I
57s really love the variety that these
58s minions give to cool board games because
60s sometimes sometimes you'll get lots of
61s attack and be playing Divine Shield
63s minions and other times you'll get tons
64s of health and get to put that on Minions
66s that you want to survive like rivendare
68s one of the new minions we also have
69s coming is bongo bopper which is a great
71s way for you to generate additional blood
73s gems as well as something that scales
75s itself because it plays more blood gems
77s on it each turn this is also a fun one
79s to play with Jakari enchanter which will
80s double your end of turn effects the last
82s thing we also have coming to quilboar is
83s bristleback on tier VI which is Avenged
86s one playing blood gem on all your
88s quilbore this is the first time we're
89s playing Legends during the combat phase
91s which let you take advantage of some
92s synergies that you normally couldn't do
94s such as refreshing a Divine shields on
96s tough toss or giving your puffer quills
98s venomous again we'll also making a
99s couple small tweaks to existing cool
102s board minions including a change to
104s Thorn collar which was previously on
106s tier 3 and is now being moved down to
108s tier two uh with just the death rattle
110s we want to make sure that there was a
111s reliable way that you can generate blood
112s gems on a lower tier that wasn't quite
115s as swingy as something like roadbore
117s which especially in the late game just
118s kind of dropped off really hard we also
120s have a change coming to Charla which is
122s uh now no longer going to play Blood
124s gems on itself in the past it was fine
126s when bludgeons are always giving plus
128s one plus one but when you can scale them
129s way bigger than that Charles had started
132s getting a little bit too big yeah I
133s think it's time that we jump into mechs
135s now they've got a new focus on magnetic
138s we can start here with Lola bot nice and
140s simple at the end of your turn gain plus
142s one plus one it's a great way to start
143s your scaling early and it doesn't need
145s to take up a board slot to do it we also
147s have a chordatron which is mech's unique
149s way to get an extra gold every turn
151s you'll get more gold and you can also
153s stack this one a whole bunch and before
154s you know it you'll be getting 20 gold
156s every turn scrap scraper is a great way
158s to get more magnetics over the course of
160s the game as you work your way towards
162s utility drone on tier V which is a
165s really good way to keep your scaling
167s competitive later in the game because
169s for every magnetic minion that you've
171s attached those mechs will keep scaling
173s every turn and finally polarizing
175s beatboxer whenever you magnetize another
178s Minion it also magnetizes this so as
180s you're buying more magnetics and scrap
182s scraper is giving you more then you'll
184s get an extra magnetization every time
186s you attach it it's also worth mentioning
188s a change that we're making to Magnetic
190s which is previously you needed a board
192s space to be able to play a magnetic
193s minion now you can play magnetic even if
195s your board is full of all seven minions
197s this actually came out of play testing
199s because there's a lot of frustration uh
201s when you're getting all of these extra
202s magnetic minions off your scrap scraper
204s but then you had to sell something you
206s cared about to be able to make room to
207s play it and it just didn't feel so good
209s so we made this change so that it's a
211s lot easier for you to engage with the
212s system while still getting that tough
214s decision making about where you want to
215s put your strong magnetic effects well
217s that's all the new content now all 10
220s minion types are live on Battlegrounds
