I taught myself to code during teens and kept finding reasons to make games (school assignments, automating most of my web dev job so I could make games in secret). Read tons of books. Got the job on my first interview, despite thinking I had applied to another game studio :S

So, basically I passed tests. Had stuff to show so people knew that I could do the job and I guess didnt say something too crazy (I did argue over WoW factions with my interviewer tho)

Also, I wasnt all that sure gamedev was for me until the last year of university so I kinda did chemistry/bioinformatics stuff on the side until I became sure. Keeping doors open is good.

@Moah3 @SolSara needed to save up money so I could buy an apartment and it was painful but the most efficient way at the time. But yes it sucked a lot :D I did manage to read two books a week though which I kinda miss

@Moah3 @SolSara since I also didnt take the subway it was like 3-4h of commuting every day
