s uh since we're already on this side we
s also have some melee weapon changes uh
s and we actually have them in two
s different categories so the first thumb
s would be the stamina based changes uh
s meaning the changes were
s based on the stamina consumption of
s those weapons and uh yeah so one more
s heavier pep is now possible with a few
s uh weapons such as the heavy knife
s and the saber
s yes let's talk about them one after the
s other so the heavy knife um one of the
s balancing things that we have been
s always trying to keep and maintain was
s the balance between the heavy knife and
s the regular knife and one of the things
s that's that's um
s we used to kind of differentiate them
s with is that the normal knife can always
s do four heavy attacks while the heavy
s knife could not
s and
s while in general that approach was okay
s it didn't really reflect the reality of
s how these weapons are being used because
s the heavy knife actually is more
s effective against normal ei if you just
s use a regular attack you can just easily
s kill them with it with like um slashes
s to like the upper toes head area uh
s while the heavy attack is more used
s against like like bigger threats now
s that left you at a severe disadvantage
s for example when you went up against
s like a pack of hellhounds with a heavy
s knife
s like especially since we introduced like
s the throwing axe which is kind of
s overlapping a little bit with a heavy
s knife as well
s well takes more stamina and but you can
s throw it like it overall felt like the
s heavy knife is getting a lot of pressure
s from from multiple directions now so
s giving it one more heavy attack so
s reducing the stamina consumption so that
s you can do one more heavy attack
s um felt like we're actually opening a
s bit more room for that weapon and
s hopefully we also see the numbers go up
s a little bit in terms of usage with it
s compared to how it is being played on
s right now for the saber it's a similar
s thing however um the saber is more about
s like that we felt most people usually
s bring bayonets if they want to have the
s type of gameplay and that means you can
s get gun you can get a gets get get the
s step attack usually like two or so steps
s is enough to deal with most things
s coming your way so the dedicated saver
s felt sometimes as if it's a little bit
s out of place like like why sacrifice
s that one slot that you could use for a
s pistol just for this edit melee option
s so at least we want to make it sure that
s like it's a bit more worthwhile even
s even though it wasn't probably the
s biggest of an issue by just giving you
s also one more heavy attack you can do
s with it just over making the zebra a bit
s more of a flexible choice
s yeah i think those uh will be
s appreciated by especially those that
s love the heavy knife like myself so
s great stuff but as mentioned earlier we
s also have a different category of melee
s weapon changes which were based on
s damage and uh
s this will affect the machete
s first of all so let's talk about the
s machete first um so the
s um thing here is like we we didn't want
s to do anything with stamina on this one
s because we felt like machete already is
s pretty economic when it comes to stamina
s consumption specifically the regular
s attacks you can just like kill them
s almost like any eye coming your way
s easily without two strikes and don't run
s out of semi not easily so was the
s problem and uh instead we felt like the
s weapon is just a bit underperforming so
s what we did is increase the heavy bass
s heavy attack base damage slightly
s um it's not gonna insta kill players so
s we didn't take it that far up remember
s some people have been with us for some
s time and you know how the machete was in
s past days
s um so we didn't want to go directly back
s to that
s however like before it was like 110 120
s damage to torso now it's like 135 it
s does the heavy bleeding stuff so it's
s putting all more pressure on the players
s but it also adds another change here to
s it which is that you can now kill an
s armored into heavy strikes so this is
s similar to what you can do with a step
s of a saber that kind of means that the
s saber and the machete become a bit
s closer just like the heavy knife and the
s knife are biting a bit closer so it's
s more of a style question do you want the
s precision of the step which i think many
s people will will agree is was like the
s the thing that really makes the knife
s stand out over the heavy knife for them
s the reliability of the attack or
s do you want uh um like in this case like
s the option to to um
s just to slash and hit multiple enemies
s at the same time for example like like
s doing heavy attacks against uh like a
s group by fel hounds usually means you
s can easily kill two of them at the same
s time
s yeah this is awesome and it really
s reminds me of this one guy named fisk
s who always run around the mashita so
s hope we can see him back in the valley
s too
s yeah i mean it also means like so for
s example i i i have to admit to myself i
s haven't been using the the sickle for
s quite a while and then what used to be
s like a heavy knife option for example i
s haven't used used in in i have used
s quite a lot back then but since the
s throwing axe came out i've not used it i
s really like that one just because of
s just how awesome it feels to be using
s that signal um in in malay but i haven't
s been doing that for a while so for me
s for example the changes on the heavy
s knife will definitely mean i'll i'll try
s that one out and with the machete as
s well i definitely want to try out a
s couple of things with the machete more
s because i haven't honestly been using it
s quite a lot recently either so i think
s it just adds a little bit more space to
s them and rather than always going for
s the saber which is what i did when i
s when i chose a melee weapon i will
s definitely go and try out the machete
s more as well now
s yeah that sounds really nice and but
s dennis it was not the only thing that
s got changed based on damage but we have
s yeah all the talon variants
s so the talent that's more of a more of a
s bigger change because we are kind of re
s re-envisioning the talent a little bit
s so what what is the talent right now
s let's maybe recap that so the talent
s right now um allows you to do i think
s roughly five or so heavy melee attacks
s and it's a little bit more powerful than
s a machete but it's usually not enough to
s kill ai
s um easily like it kind of underperforms
s and it doesn't really do the trick for
s for for warranty to bring it along sure
s it's not a bad attachment to have um but
s um
s its role has never been really clear
s right it tried to do like multiple
s things like trigger mobs uh but then
s again also like try to take on the
s bigger enemies killing players sure that
s was possible with it you could want to
s kill the players but against ai was kind
s of like luster
s so instead of of trying to just tune a
s little bit with it we have re-envisioned
s a little bit what it means so
s it now acts exactly like a strike from
s the combat x or like the x you can find
s in the world
s um however it only has two heavy attacks
s possible now that means that you can uh
s basically bring it into a boss fight for
s example without having to look for an
s axe which is i think probably going to
s be very handsome for for for if you
s uh fight scrapbook for example who stole
s all the all the stuff right but you can
s only do two attacks the normal normal
s combat x allows you to do three strikes
s before you run out of stamina so if you
s didn't bring a stamina shot that one
s definitely gives you options but it is
s kind of limited so what you do with it
s is now you can try to prime the attack
s which you know is very slow and
s cumbersome so it never really leaned
s itself very well to this like combo
s successive strikes you to prime it you
s you do your ambush as before it still
s can can kill players but it does a
s little bit more reliably now even
s but you use that to like one strike and
s armor to use that to to go against the
s boss like you don't use it against
s groups of enemies this is where you go
s for your tool or your machete now or
s whatever so it has a specific purpose
s can i re-envision it a little bit to be
s your pocket combat axe uh someone else
s they for now the talent can break down
s reinforce doorstone like the combat x
s with two heavy hits
s try it out on tessera
s good answer it does more damage which
s means door receives more damage
