So I posted this in suggestions in the Hunt Discord the other day, and it was pretty evenly split. Figured I’d post it here so that there can be an actual discussion on the idea rather than just up votes and down votes.
This isn’t a new suggestion by any means, but I’d like to bring it up again to hopefully make a good argument in favor. Let’s start by defining “Slamfire”. Slamfiring is simply a function some pump action firearms have where upon keeping the trigger held down, the gun will fire with every pump forward. This allows you to fire very rapidly. Currently there is only one gun in the game that is capable of Slamfire and that is the Slate, although this would be even better with something like the Colt Lightning rifle added along side it. Now the major point made against this suggestion is balance. I propose a sort of inverse to levering. With levering you must fire from the hip and still fire 1 shot per click, just very rapidly. I have noticed from personal experience with both my 1897 (shown in the video) and my 1893 ( the version in game) cannot be effectively Slamfired from the hip. I suggest that you ads and hold down your lmb to continually Slamfire until you let go. This would force the player to not only need to control the recoil of rapid firing in ads but be confined to ads while most likely in close quarters. It would also be very easy to run out of ammo very fast if you aren’t paying attention.
TLDR: I do believe Slamfire would not be broken if done right, and would be a good addition to Hunt.
