I would be curious if /u/nylesblack could put that to rest... I really hope they didn't temporarily disable ELO-based matchmaking just to ensure full servers for the Twitch drops event.
I am not aware of any intentional change to the ELO system that would cause that, but the issue is being investigated as far as I know.
