@InTheLittleWood Honestly I'm really disappointed by that POV as Garry is one of my game dev heroes.
The stuff we've done for 5+ years through two products is real deal level design work. Maybe some of the folks we work with will share their work and processes.
@MarkMantle_ Managing peoples free time can often be more challenging than managing their paid time. Often it is relevant experience. Sometimes it is not.
@InTheLittleWood I dunno maybe he is thinking about someones basic minecraft world rather than professional work. So I give the benefit of doubt that way.
@InTheLittleWood Yeap they do, and at its core many people just learn by finding an easy toolkit and just messing around with it.
like RPG Maker... or GarrysMod š
@garrynewman @DecLXIV For context Garry this is a 17 year old that just got his first job working with a team creating paid content for Minecraft , he did that in part after creating a social media following making 3D fanart for our upcoming game.
I once looked up to you as a pioneer. Disappointing
@garrynewman @DecLXIV I'll walk down my statement a bit, I still do look at you as a pioneer. My reaction to your hottake is very personal and I think you are deeply wrong about it.
Somemade this in MS paint , is it not art? MC is a toolset and I think you've overlooked the professional aspect of it http://pbs.twimg.com/media/EmE4tuTXEAEQzmr.png
@garrynewman @DecLXIV And by extension, I think your POV / opening statement in this case is ultimately dismissive of modding as a path to professional opportunities in this case. I anticipate however that is not what you meant.
@Flammmez @garrynewman @DecLXIV That context is not part of the original tweet at all though. But fair enough he's walked it back and established context.
@ciarano71 Yah know I would be inclined to back the campaign if it was destined to be part of Derry, but I don't see why we should float their commercial venture (pun intended) especially if it's heading down the river to Belfast.
