I've been playing with my brother and we are currently tackling the level 80 monolith. We have done the whole campaign together and it's actually been a lot of fun.

Questing

Seemed pretty straight forward. You can complete quests at pretty well any range within the same zone and your partner(s) will get the completion as well. So on areas with many objectives you can split up to tackle it faster.

Ran into one bug in hereobore where Yulia travels from there to Maj"elka or maybe a different next town. Either way I still have the final step in Lance of Heorot to talk to her specifically in hereobore, but she is no longer there and her toon does not have an option to finish the quest anywhere else that she's been. Stuck without ever getting my last idol slot.

Gifting

As a previous D2LoD and POE player I found the lack of trade very refreshing, but did find myself ready to swap out multiple pieces of gear for quite some time without really finding anything or having any route outside of grinding and hoping. The targeted farming within the monoliths is good, but I still feel like it could be more deterministic or somehow make those drops more valuable or simply more in a batch of rewards from completing an echo. I did find that if I went to the next zone and my party member was a bit behind - finding an item for them in that instance and not being able to gift it felt a little hollow. But I adjusted my filter to include some gear for him and that was enough to sweeten the pot of my loot pool, and his for me.

Trade

As I understand it, in order to add trade EHG would have to lower drop rates significantly to balance around the fact you could just buy it. Personally I hate this part. I would rather find more on my own than have to dedicate X amount of time to farming useless-to-me gear to sell to buy my gear. It will have to be the way, because a drastically lowered drop rate for all things valuable means your chances of finding something valuable that you can also use are even more rare to find yourself.

I trust EHG to find the middle ground here. Nothing worse than feeling like you could upgrade your weapon because you know your at the next tier of bases but not finding anything useful for 3 more tiers of bases. Leading me to want to be able to trade.

I feel like gambling was really good early on and now all the bases are outdated. This could solve the whole problem for me personally. If I could reasonably use gambled items late game I would replace my more or less useless over capped res gloves for some small damage increase at least for the time being.

Not sure the point of this post really. Just sharing my experience and my thoughts this far.

Overall I felt playing with someone extremely valuable and that was my number 1 hope. I wanted to play with more players to increase difficulty and add another loot pool to my potential gear finding and grinding.

TLDR; multiplayer has been great so far. Deterministic loot could use a buff. And I hope we don't get full blown trade.

Honestly, as a big no-trade proponent, deterministic loot and a satisfying end-game loot progression has a long way to go in LE. I absolutely love the game, but apart from the grind of empowered monos, end-game gearing is really unsatisfying for the most part.

I generally think the devs have made really good choices and added really good systems to the game as long as I've been playing, and hope this will be an issue that will be addressed eventually. But I have a lot of sympathy who look at the current state of the end-game and not really see SSF as a viable option.

End game content, itemization, systems, and events will be a huge focus for LE as we lead up to 1.0 and after.
