[2023] Attack speed question.

When the passive tree for example sentinel has the perk that gives bonus attack speed if using a sword, does this only apply to the swords base attack speed, does it apply to total char attack speed? Also is attack speed divided by melee attack speed and throw attack speed?

I ask because in working on hammer throw which the casting seems to scale of throw speed and theres not an actual attack speed in char sheet its throw or melee attack speed. Thanks in advance.
