Hey folks, I am looking for some information regarding pet damage calculations in last epoch. I tried to google the information but there is not much information out there for this game.

As a beastmaster how can I compare the base dps of the different pets? What are the base attack speeds for the bear, raptor, and wolves?

How does the damage calc work? If anybody has the formula for the pets I would appreciate it.

How does added flat damage compare to % increased damage?

Can you go over 100% increased pet attack speed?

Are there any soft caps or diminishing returns on any stats like pet crit multi or critical strike?

There are pet abilities in the talent trees, do they scale off of added flat minion damage and how can you tell what their cooldown is? Do those abilities reset their auto attack timer?

I am trying to run a wolf/bear pet build and I have recently come across a ring with +7 added flat fire damage for minions and I am not certain if my ring with +80% increased minion damage and 20% crit minion multi is better.

I saw in general chat somebody said added flat damage is generally the best in this game but I have no way of testing that as the in game tooltips dont function at all for pet dps.

Does %increased minion melee damage effect minion spells?

Do all the pets have a base crit chance of 5%?

Trying to have a blind playthrough on my first character but I need to know how to choose what item to wear.

  • some of this information has been mined and is on tunklabs or last Epoch tools (Links in the side bar)

  • same as everything else, not sure what specifically you mean here

How does added flat damage compare to % increased damage?

  • flat is most of the time better because it's so crazy rare so you probably incidentally have way more increased damage already.

Can you go over 100% increased pet attack speed?

  • yes, it's the same as player attack speed

Are there any soft caps or diminishing returns on any stats like pet crit multi or critical strike?

  • I guess Crit chance technically has a soft cap at 100% because it is useless over 100% but environmental effects can reduce it.

There are pet abilities in the talent trees, do they scale off of added flat minion damage and how can you tell what their cooldown is? Do those abilities reset their auto attack timer?

  • if the ability is of the appropriate type of added damage, yes. For example, added minion bow damage doesn't help a wolf because it uses melee abilities and added melee minion damage doesn't help a sabertooth's cold spells. They don't have an "auto attack timer". It has a priority list of abilities that it tries to use. It just uses the first one that is off cooldown with an enemy in the appropriate rage.

  • hard to say, head to a dummy and see how they do.

  • dummies to check. Practical is best.

Does %increased minion melee damage effect minion spells?

  • no, melee only affects melee and spell only affects spell. Same for bow and throwing.

Do all the pets have a base crit chance of 5%?

  • well yes but actually no. Technically, all the non-dot abilities have a 5% base Crit chance but as far as is necessary to understand what's going on, yes 5%.
