Logged in this morning and both my characters now only show up under offline. They were online yesterday when I quit out (the second character I haven't even played in a few days), I haven't fiddled with any game files, what the heck happened?

Try restarting the game. The online and offline save files are not the same and the online characters don't have a way to download to your computer from the server anyways. It's probably a UI bug.

I did several times and again before posting this response, they only show up under offline.

Any chance they were made offline in the first place? It's really a clean separation. There isn't even some sneaky dev code that could have accidentally run.

Only other thing is to verify the game files.

They were both made in online mode, I was playing online with one yesterday and the other a few days ago. All file valid.

Well, no idea then. We don't have a way to do that even if you wanted to.

The only thing I can add is that it took longer than normal to connect to US East this morning as in around 40 seconds instead of near instant.

That won't enable you to move a save file from online to offline though. Like the offline loading process can't read online save files properly in the first place and we don't have an online to offline save file conversion method.

It's like if you wrote a document in French and then when you came back the next day it had translated itself into English. It just doesn't really work that way.

I figured it wouldn't explain it but it was the only thing left to add. So I take it there is no way to fix what shouldn't have even been possible.

I still think that if they were created as online characters in the first place that they still are and the UI is just having issues. You can use a site like lastepochtools.com to load online characters without the game. It reads directly from the API that sees the database. Cut the game engine out of the equation.

If it doesn't show up there, I really don't think they were made as online characters in the first place.

You can also check the offline save file location on your computer. If the saves are there then I also don't think they were created as online characters.

It's just one of those things that would require a very significant amount of code that just isn't in the game. I do have first hand experience in this as I was directly involved with making this in the first place.

You can also contact support and they can probably look up your account to see if it has any characters saved online. support.lastepoch.com
