Hey guys,

Any further news on a PS5 port for Last Epoch? I inquired a few months ago but was told it may be some time yet before we have anything concrete about whether or not it is actually even going to come out on console.

I think it would be a great idea... for both of us. In spite of what some feel about console players, the more people playing a game, the longer that game is going to survive. It's just common sense I'd think but there is probably a lot of stuff that goes on beyond the scenes that i don't know about that may make that not true...

So I'll just be quiet and stop rambling. Any news on a console port? Is it definitely coming and you just don't know when? Or should I just not get my hopes up?

It's releasing on PS5 and Xbox same day as full launch, 21 Feb.

This is false. Not sure if intentional or not but please do not answer questions like this with such confidence unless you are certain. We haven't even decided which consoles we want to expand to yet.

There is no new information on the status of a potential console port. We still want to do it and I think it's looking good right now but we are just fully focused on 1.0

I fully understand that "things can change" but if a console port is going to happen, what are the odds that it'd have cross-progression built into it (not as concerned about cross-play tbh)?

Thanks =)

We have much much smarter people than me working on those elements so I can't give you a first hand answer there.

However, I do spend a little time dealing with data storage and regardless of where the game is being played, we would still store all those saves in the same place. So from a technical point, I think cross-progression would be much easier to do than cross-play.

That doesn't mean it will happen, just that it's easier. I feel like that's kind of a nothing answer though.

I think the decision to have cross-progression or not will probably come down to a design decision. If the hypothetical console port doesn't have some sort of gameplay difference from the PC version, I think I'd be cautiously optimistic for it. Just like if you look at D3, the console version has a combat roll and PC doesn't.

Now, we already have controller support so the PC to console difference likely won't be that much if anything for us.

So I think it's going to come down to design decision with a possible console curve ball that might make the decision for us.
