I’m on my 12th try of empowered Emperor of Corpses and can confirm without a shadow of doubt that the Soul Bomb range indicator is inconsistent. The same spot outside the range indicator will sometimes be fine and sometimes will one shot me.

After 50 tries, here are all the problems I see with the fight:

1) the afore mentioned soul bomb range indicator isn’t accurate. It seems to be wrong when I’m throwing hammers or walking close to the edge. To solve this, I get more than two character lengths away and use rebuke. Additionally, the range indicator seems to change. I have not consistently tested this but Sometimes it seems to be much larger and other times it’s quite small. Also the timing of soul bomb changes. I believe the timing being different is purposeful but not sure if the range is as well.

2) the breathe attack. Sometimes the EoC can be moved around by the player character sometimes not. When using smite to teleport behind him, it can move him in such a way that the character ends up under EoC and going into the breath hit box. Also the hitbox under EoC belly, is not consistent. Sometimes you can hide under his belly, sometimes it kills you.

3) the fact that the player character can move EoC a giant undead dragon around the map is kind of silly. It would just be overall more convincing that the player character cannot easily just push EoC around the map like a cardboard box.

4) Sometimes the outer ring necrotic damage does not go away after a fight so that when you spawn in, you spawn directly into an active outer ring.

5) I was able to glitch the fight in my favor twice out of maybe 60 ish attempts. At the moment of my death from soul bomb. If I aggressive mash potion and health rejuv skills, the death summary will briefly pop up but then disappear and the fight will continue.

Edit: making this a post about the problems with EoC after 50 attempts on 110 empowered and dying to all kinds of funky hitbox situations as well as the fight being hard.

Edit2: added more bugs. Also finally downed him after learning how to handle the bugs.

Just wanted to provide a few updates concerning this, as EoC's Soul Explosion hitbox is something we're still looking into.

  1. From the engine side of things, we can see the hitbox does correctly match the telegraph indicator, which means something else is going on. We currently suspect this may be the result of being able to 'push' many enemies, including EoC, but we don't yet have a constant reproduction for this. Situation information can be helpful for this, such as if you're experiencing any issues with other hitboxes during the fight (desync), experiencing any sort of rubber banding, or if you notice anything else off.
  2. This appears to be a result of pushing the boss as you mentioned. 'Pushing' enemies is not an intended mechanic, and is part of a much larger issue we're working on.
  3. same as 2, yup. It's very silly indeed =p
  4. We are aware of this bug, though it's currently lower priority than others as teleporting into the outer ring post fight should be a very rare occurrence.
  5. This is not an intended feature of course (killing you should make you die), though I don't currently have an ETA on the fix.

Thanks for the response! 1) It was not always the case with my hammerdin that I died to soul bomb after pushing the enemy. There were times that I died on the very first soul bomb. I noticed that this seems to happen more often when I use a teleport spell and/or continue to attack him while he is soul bombing. The other hitbox issue is his breath. This one only seems to occur when I am too close behind him. This effect is also more likely to occur when I used smite teleport because that spell always puts me behind him and causes him to move a bit.

4) concerning the necro outer ring bug: what I meant here is that when I spawn into the fight after many attempts, the outer ring is already there. Typically the fight starts with me on the edge and EoC waiting off screen. In the bugged scenario, the outer ring of necrotic damage is already there and he immediately starts to the mass necro ball launch when I spawn into the fight.

5) concerning being able to cheat death: I wanted to call it out just in case but this one is a small win for the player on a really tough fight so I’m definitely okay with this sticking around for a bit longer😁

Ah! I see the issue with the outer ring now - sorry, I misunderstood what was going on there. You mean it's persisting after the portal is closed and into the next attempt of the quest echo within the same gameplay session if I understand correctly now. I'll pass that along to the team.
