Is there any talk, or has there been in the past of adding a 6th skill? I know this may sound outrageous to some, but as a new player I've created three seperate classes. While the first two I grew bored of around lvl 20-30, I got more and more intrested in my "Druid".

I planned on playing my Druid with some shapeshifting but mainly as the Naturemancer (patent pending) that I was unable to create in Diablo 4, much to my dismay. However, around the time we declare our class decision, I actually realized that my playstyle and the classes I was being presented with were clashing. I figured that in order to have an army of Nature, I'd probably be better off rolling with the Beastmaster. No big deal. However, initially the wolves just WORK, they're great, they howl and buff everything, absolute MUST imo. For my second ability, the Leap attack was working fantastically. Finding that I could have the wolves (and later raptors) with me, was just sooo cool.

So, that's 2 skills that felt engraves in stone prior to even getting to the Beastmaster portion. All of my Melee skills felt great to be honest. I ultimately came down to a decision between Upheaval (for the range and AOE capability) and Tempest Strike (similar range on some spells cast after the Strike, and the cold synergized with my wolf...VERY cool interaction) and I decided on Tempest Strike mainly because I wanted to lean into this elemental melee style for ME in particular (when not commanding my minions). 3 skills down, two left and now I'm running into difficult decisions.

Prior to unlocking all the skills, whilst leveling, the electric ability that the Ravens provided was AMAZING imo. Now I was hopping around alongside my wolves, bashing things with Tempest Strike and mixing in Raven AOE, I had the full array of abilities and seemingly the ONLY decision left was which would be my final minion.

Raptors and Sabertooth feel very good in both cases imo. The tipping point for Raptor was the one skill on the tree that periodically lowered the cooldown of ALL the other animals' active skills by 3 seconds, game changing! So there it was. Felt great.

However, Frenzy Totem EXISTS :(. This isn't a bad thing, the totem is really useful and buffs every one of my minions! Ultimately, I've decided that I had to put my awesome Ravens on the shelf to make room for Frenzy Totem. It "feels" like I'm spreading my playstyle a bit thin (elemental melee/commanding minions/totem) BUT IDK, when rolling with these minions in melee range, it just feels entirely NECESSARY to use this Totem. Maybe I'm mistaken.

All the while, I'm still in the campaign (late 40s, early 50s level wise) and having a lot of fun. This brings me back to the Noob Question. Is there ANY hope of the devs considering a 6th active skill on the bar? Honestly I feel each skill is well crafted and I only want more of all of it. As a veteran of ARPGs I understand that sometimes choice is created through limitation. This is especially prevalent since D3 and D4 kinda went 6 skills just for the sake to seemingly streamline things for consoles. As I think you can read between the lines, I MUCH prefer the POE style with many more (potential) button presses. Even in D2, you could bind a ton of skills to the F keys and switch them in and out...even became easier on gamepad in D2 resurrected.

All I can think of as I play is how much FUN it'd be to have access to a single additional skill. Having just bought Last Epoch in the last couple weeks and being new to this game's particular scene, I can't help but wonder if this type of thing is completely off the table, or if it's been discussed or contemplated at all. If there's any info or Q&A from the devs talking about this from the past or more recently that anyone can point me toward, I'd appreciate it. In the meanwhile, what do people think? Would it break the balancing of the game in your opinion if we could add say 1 additional skill? There's also the "why stop there?" mentality but personally I just noticed that I'm craving my Ravens on my BM and would LOVE to see my build with them added to my arsenal but can't seem to part with the Frenzy Totem to do so. Felt like one more skill would really open up (and make far more intersting) the two classes I decided to shelve on my way to picking up the BM also.

Anyway, sorry for my long rant, but ty in advance for any info/opinions related to the subject! One thing I will say is I'm really enjoying the game and will likely contine to enjoy playing it on rotation with the other ARPGs available (fun time for the genre) regardless of how this situation shakes out (which I assume is just continuing as it stands now with 5 active skills, and I'm just some dude ranting about wanting an extra skill because other games have em :-P).

I don't think adding more skills is the way. Limitations are generally good as they force decisions.

It also sounds like you are exacerbating the problem by playing a hybrid of several archetypes.

While we do understand that the want for more abilities, what Renediffie expressed here is our exact philosophy and why we intend to stick to this many skills. Perhaps a dodge roll in the future as an additional button press?
