You've seen it probably multiple times, a discussion on Nasus happens and someone says "actually Nasus is a midgame champ and falls off late, late he just gets kited to oblivion and shredded by the adc" and most people parrot him.

Exept this is completely false and not backed up by data

Nasus winrate on lolaytics plat+ based on game time on 11.14 patch

11.13

11.12

His winrate always starts sub 50% and get higher and higher the later the game goes, reaching about 55%+ post 40 minutes gametime.

The myth about him falling off late is completely false, he can opt out in some options that let him heavily mitigate his weaknesses late like

  • double tenacity from precision+resolve if vs high cc teams

  • ghost + flash if he needs the ms late

  • be extremely tanky since he only needs 1 bruiser item into full tank (building some of the best scaling tank items like FH that provide very strong team utility with 20% TOTAL AS slow for everyone around him or Gargoyle active scaling with his R for 2000+hp shields late)

  • provide a point and click slow+cripple for 5 seconds with basically no downtime for a priority/threatening target

All while dishing very high damage to enemies and turrets and being almost unmatchable in the sidelane for 90% heroes in the game where leaving him alone means your base dies in 30 seconds

Opinions? I think the winrate stats are very hard to argue with, Nasus gets better the later the game goes/does not fall off, I always wondered where the myth about him falling off late came from

Edit: I'm not arguing if Nasus is balanced or not(I think he is balanced but that's another matter whatsoever and not the point of this post), rather if he is a lategame champion or not

As other people mentioned in here, my theory is that Nasus is a stronger scaler in the recent metas as melee mids and tops are far more popular than historically. Also tanks and control mages are low popularity now, and those champions (in teamfights at least) can hold nasus down long enough to be kited by high DPS classes like marksmen. As of late, Nasus just paths through a fight Q-ing each squishy target he passes by, regardless of game length.
