I definitely support this. All complaints and usual r/leagueoflegends nonsense aside, people forget that Riot are humans beings and are experiencing the pandemic just as we are.

Ever since the Cyberpunk fiasco and hearing about the horrible treatment of employees and the hours they worked, I am super sympathetic towards hard working game employees.

Rest up and stay safe, Rito!

Thank you for being so kind! I am really looking forward to it. We have had a busy year so it will be wonderful to reset and come back refreshed. :)

How does your other PTO work? Is it looked down upon to schedule your own vacation now that riot has multiple company wide breaks? What if they don’t line up with when your family can take time off? I’m torn between believing this is actually good and not a trick by riot to reduce other PTO used.

I've only been here for about a month so this break has been planned for a while from what I understand.
If you are wanting to take some days off that is not scheduled like summer/winter break, as long as you have clear communication with your team, its totally ok.
I have never heard anyone mention anything negative on scheduling your own vacation because of how chill it is here. Everyone is on top of communicating.
I even see people who on short notice say they wont be coming into work that morning because they felt sick or had an emergency/appointment to take care of. The response from what I've seen is "Ok! Take care of yourself, let us know if you need anything"
If that person had anything they needed to take care of that day, another Rioter in the same discipline would cover for them or they would just continue when they got back.

I feel like if the days you want to take off don't line up with what your family wants, then you just change the days you want to take off so it does? The days off from what I've seen are decided by the worker. So again it boils down to communicating with your team what days you want off and then you go from there. I even been told that some people who didn't want to take time off, were told to take some because they really want us to be good to go and recharged.

TLDR: I have yet to take any personal time off because I'm just starting but as long as you communicate with your team you should be fine. Even if its short notice, they just want you to be healthy and happy to come in when you can.
I honestly feel like they care about me and I don't feel scared/looked down on to ask for time off.

Hope this helps!

These comments taught me that when I thought I was being friendly by using the Braum emote, I was BMing. Especially when someone wouldn't wave back and I spammed it.
