Earlier this week, systems in our development environment were compromised via a social engineering attack. We don’t have all the answers right now, but we wanted to communicate early and let you know there is no indication that player data or personal information was obtained. Unfortunately, this has temporarily affected our ability to release content. While our teams are working hard on a fix, we expect this to impact our upcoming patch cadence across multiple games. Please be patient with us as we work through this, and we’ll keep you posted as we continue our investigation.

League specific impact:

TLDR - if the patch doesn't go ahead on the planned date we're going to get as many of the planned+tested balance changes out in a hotfix instead

Edit: For those who also play TFT, same situation and plans to hotfix balance changes where possible

oh this explains why pbe is boom

Yep. We'll likely test changes on the PBE by hotfixing to that, then hotfixing to live, so potentially some changes there over the next few days

damn I was really looking forward to new skins on tuesday after a month :( I hope you can get it fixed soon

Fingers crossed. We've got a lot of people digging in right now, should know more after the next 2-3 days.

Hey Meddler, do you think this will affect Wild Rift's release cadence as well, since I saw VAL was having issues too

We're still assessing. Current take is probably not, since WR development as a mobile only game goes through a different process. Should know more for impact on all the games next week though.

should we change password on league and all other servicies that share the same passowrd?

how the password was stored? salted slow-hash (bcrypt/argon)? salted "normal" hash? plaintext?

in my case it's unique to league but might impact other people

No player data, including your passwords, were affected here.

Is there a reason to not tell us what you gonna change on 13.2 ? Like just communicate the exact changes you are planning to do. Othewise the whole thing about patch preview is not worth it.

We are completely unsure on what we can get into 13.2 in the event the patches don't launch as usual, that's why we can't give heads up.

People are on the case to identify what can/can't be micropatched cleanly without bugs/problems, and will be able to communicate that as it becomes more clear.

Does that mean Aurelion Sol will be pushed back a patch? :(

Currently still aiming for 13.3. Possible that could change as we learn more, not currently assumed though

Appreciated

This is a really painful experience for both players and devs, it sucks to potentially not get content out to y'all on time/as expected, especially when the work is done and ready to ship. We have many people across design, engineering, QA, etc assessing what our options are to get players as much of the gameplay-relevant content as possible.

Micropatching in balance changes, for example, is quite viable. On the other hand larger adjustments (Annie for example) are much less clear due to implications on tooltips, death recaps, and in-client information that's usually updated via full server deploys. Just to give an idea what can be expected generally on the gameplay side.

Grumbles in potentially delayed Aurelion update

Currently the Aurelion Sol Rework is not delayed so rejoice. He should still be hitting when we originally planned assuming things get all fixed in time.
Obviously things could change but right now he is safe.

Just to be clear, why does this delay patch dates? Is there a concern about unknowingly shipping malicious content along with patch files?

Sorry can't go into any specific details around the attack and its direct impact for security reasons, hopefully that's understandable.

Hmm I've had massive packet loss on valorant. I wonder if this is related

Almost certainly unrelated, internal development environments and processes get kept really separate from the live game wherever possible (not saying it's impossible, but odds are real high there's something else going on with said packet loss)

I take it it's a strong possibility ADC class update will also be delayed to 13.3 if that's the case?

The types of changes that most of the ADC update stuff comprises is relatively easy to micropatch. The most difficult change is the one to Overheal.

That said, I can't guarantee anything.

As a Rioter and a player, I'd like to applaud the efforts of the teams working on restoring these services, and to your team for minimizing impact to players.
