[2020] Why isn't mid the duo lane?

I've been thinking a lot about this. With two champions on the most important role, the duo lane would have twice the impact. The support could roam more easily, and even the carry could roam. There would be two champions that could help the jungler at any time. The duo lane would have the same impact on the drake, but they would also have impact on the herald. The lane is significantly harder to gank, so it's harder to accidentally give the enemy Master Yi two kills at 5 minutes. I would say the best solution would be that the support supports a mage, since they have the waveclear needed for roams, and the botlane would be an adc 1v1. Sure doing this in a solo queue game would get you reported by your teammates, but I could easily see this used in proplay.

The only downside I can think of is the fact that hook-based supports like blitz would have a harder time landing a hook. I am a silver/gold player tho, so I might have forgot something. Also I guess champions like Kassadin would have a harder time getting to their 16 level powerspike, but on the other hand ad carries would get to late game way faster too.
