I just played a normals game with a rioter on my team, and he mentioned that lots of Riot staff would be playing games and gifting RP today in commemoration of 10 years of League (along with the many other events going on). I didn't realize at first that he was an actual rioter and thought he just happened to have chosen a name with 'riot' in it, but I was having a chill game and being supportive and afterwards he gifted me 1k RP just for being friendly.
Side note: Apparently this was his first game with 'Riot' in his account name and unfortunately he was heavily flamed by a couple players on the enemy team -constantly swearing at him in all chat (it got worse as we started winning), calling him an idiot because he works for riot, looking up his twitter and just insulting his appearance. etc. Credit to him he didn't respond or retaliate, and was just very cheerful and friendly in chat before and after the game. I've never played with a rioter before AFAIK, but it is kind of sad to see how much hate any employee can get from the community just because they work for riot and may or may not be involved in any of Riot's larger company decisions. As someone who's been sworn out for working at a company where other departments made mistakes, it's not a great feeling and is rarely deserved, so try not to hate on the employees too much.
Anyways, was not intending to make this a Riot appreciation thread, but as a heads up, they're gifting RP to players today 'for making games an enjoyable experience' and just generally having basic human decency. So keep an eye out and be excellent to each other!
