Zeka Award is given out to a player who were previously unknown to the audience or had little expectation, but proved themselves at Worlds.

That's what makes Zeka's story so compelling. In his three year long pro career, he hadn't won a best of 5 until the regional qualifiers at the end of the LCK summer split.
Goes on to be one of, if not the, best-performing mid at the world championship.
They were right to bring up his lack of accolades. And it makes the apotheosis that much cooler.
