The kid wants to become some kind of esports / League of Legends player. I suppose this is no different than me growing up wanting to play for the Dodgers (narrator: this did not wind up happening).

But I just don't get it. And because I don't get it, I'm having a tough time trying to relate to him and engage him in his interests.

I gather there are a few different games (eg, sports like baseball, basketball) and various leagues within these (eg, national league, American league) and within these, there are various teams (Dodgers, Patriots), and within these there are the players.

But that's as far as I get. People pay to watch games on tv or a computer, just like I'd subscribe to ESPN? People buy merch just like I'd buy a jersey? People go to a physical place and watch in person? Threre are sponsorships? People have real careers and it's a real and growing business which will replace sports when we old farts get around to dying off? Or is this a fad? What happens when games get old or new versions come out?

Thank you for your help and support! Just trying to be a good uncle here. Apologies if this is not the right forum for this.

Bonus question: who is Misfits gaming? Are they good? I gather that this is his favored team(???), but it sounded to me like they play several different games/sports, so I'm not sure I got this right.

THANK YOU!

I used to be with "it," but then they changed what "it" was.

Now what I’m with isn’t "it" anymore and what’s "it" seems weird and scary.

It’ll happen to you.
