Hi all, I'm a Zyra main with a love for cheesing bushes, one shotting ADCs, and positivity. I main support but also play her mid (maybe at a D2 level) but all my comments will be for Zyra support unless otherwise specified. Zyra is in a good place right now with mostly favorable matchups in the meta. She can be used to snowball aggressive ADCs (eg Draven) as well as protect scaling ADCs (eg Jinx) by pressuring hard with her strong early game. Zyra support is also excellent for "full AD comps" as the enemy will either be forced to build MR or fall prey to her absurd damage.

If you're curious:

  • Stream: mostly Zyra support with commentary and chill music. I like to play older games in queue, currently Sonic Adventure 2: Battle.
  • op.gg
  • Extremely in-depth Zyra guide for mid/support: This (long!) guide details when to use the 5 keystones I rotate between, different builds depending on team comps, and short comments on (literally, I think) every match up. This is done both for mid and support. Then I wrote a giant section on all the Zyra combos (with videos), how to play Zyra in every stage of the game, and a bunch of tips and tricks you can use to master the champion (my favorite is blocking skill shots with a quick EW combo). This guide is extremely in-depth, but feel free to ask me for quicker and/or shorter answers in the AMA!
  • YouTube: mostly stream highlights, although I used to make a lot of musical parodies (my favorite is "QT's My Life", a parody of "Bring Me to Life" that my wife sung), and sometimes theory crafting and Zyra guides (most recently I did a video on mathematical misconceptions, specifically on "gold efficiency" as a metric and how void staff is useful even when the enemy has low MR, contrary to what LCS casters usually say).

A little about me:

  • I teach math at a community college in Wyoming and am currently enjoying the beautiful summer here with a lot of biking and hiking.
  • Sometimes my wife makes me gender-bent Zyra cosplays (just for fun): classic
    , wildfire
, and there's an SKT cosplay that I'm not going to share here...
  • I have my MS in applied math from UC Davis as well as a BM in music (instrumental performance, oboe) and a BS in math from CSU Stanislaus.
  • I also worked for 1.5 years at a slot machine company in Las Vegas, designing the math/odds and game rules (with some programming) for quite a few newer slot machines.
  • Sometimes I wear ties on stream, but I don't wear them to work.

Well, I think that's the (long) summary. AMA!

EDIT: finished answering questions about an hour ago. Forgot to update. It's been a pleasure, all.
