"In 14.16, we will be making several improvements to matchmaking and return to ranked experience.

We've heard a lot of discussion around blue/red side balance, especially at the start of the season. We've been investigating it deeply and have found some optimizations. Undoubtedly, there's the camera angle balance challenges and differences in the construction of the map itself by side. We shipped some changes in 14.4 to change the default camera angle on red side and noticed some improvement, but there's still more to do.

  1. Better between team player balance: We have identified some improvements to how individual matches are balanced, especially at the top of the ladder where there are scarce player populations and difficulties in making fair matches. We hope to see more fair matches and a reduction to players repeatedly ending up on the same side.

  2. Better side balancing: We're also better optimizing how teams are balanced by side. This will be most notable in high MMR. (ie. Master+)

  3. Better off-role balance: We've also identified some optimizations that can improve the matching of offroles and secondaries by side that don't dramatically increase queue times.

  4. Better return to ranked experience for returning players: Returning players often take some time to shake off the rust and get back to form. We're being a bit more aggressive with how rank and skill will decay when taking a break from the game, so that in return matches players aren't repeatedly getting smashed."

Have they applied the 10 games requirement?

We had to back it out due to some issues but it will be back on in a few days

The funny thing is that they have already SOLVED the issue in Wild Rift by rotating the camera/flipping the map on red side so both sides get the same camera angle.

Just FYI, the map on League only exists from the set of angles you view it from. It cannot be flipped. This is how many 3D assets are created, including those by Pixar

!

The next time we do a major update to the map there is a much higher likelihood we create something that can be flipped and rendered from multiple angles. Until that point, it would be a realllllly expensive way to solve this problem and the results/impact would be less than other projects that include map art/geo, like new modes. Matchmaking and camera adjustments are the smart move for us at this moment in time.
