One thing I'm a bit confused on is if the reroll/skin shard system will still exist in the same way ? I'm assuming yes considering they talk about how orbs will replace masterwork chests.

Yes rerolling and skin shards still exist, we just want those to be something you opt into, rather than always be driving you into it.
