People just keep missing the point and it's so very tilting. People put too much weight on Nemesis and LS's comments; LS should just about always be taken with a mountain of salt, except perhaps in his patch note videos, which I admit are entertaining. Nemesis was clearly salty over their loss and overly shit on DoinB, although it was very clear he thought FNC was playing awfully - not to forget that FNC took more games off of FPX in a Bo5 than G2 did.
As for the Doublelift comment, please rewatch the finals. Or the semis. But especially the finals. Lwx isn't making advantages himself, isn't pressuring, he simply is not the focal point of his team; someone else has said this already in this thread, but Lwx isn't a superstar ad carry, he is simply an excellent role player. He plays the role his team needs him to, very well. The problem here is - Doublelift is probably better than him, PerkZ is definitely better than him, and honestly they aren't the only ones.
You replace Lwx with: Rekkles, PerkZ, DL, JackeyLove, Uzi, even someone like Kobbe? FPX probably still wins worlds. Hell, they might even have an easier time doing it. Replace DoinB and Tian? Sure, other laners are mechanically better, other laners are more individually skilled in the 1v1, but they do not bring to a team what DoinB does, none in the world do, period. Replace DoinB and Tian, and you don't win worlds. Doesn't matter who with.
As for the hate-filled comments flaming Doublelift and citing how Lwx went deathless in finals, sure, I do agree that it is an achievement in and of itself, but please, rewatch the finals. It was three straight stomps where Lwx was rarely, if ever, in any risk at all of dying. Impressive? Sure, to an extent, but not nearly so when in context - especially look at the sivir game for this.
Doublelift has done plenty for his team, and while there is no doubt he lacks international success, people love to act as if he's the sole reason for his teams' failures; this year Jensen straight up ran it down while Doublelift and Impact were saving games, and I don't even want to comment on the IG game draft. He also happens to win domestically no matter what team he's on and manages to lane well internationally and output impressive numbers when give any opportunity.
People love to pick a player and act as if his team's loss is his own fault. The Lucian int play against Viktor? Well the sole reason TSM was ever even in that game to begin with is because of him. Sorry folks, but if 2017 and onward have proven anything, it's that a single player cannot carry teams, and as such I'd really love it if people would stop blaming individuals for team failures when Riot has clearly made league more and more into a team game.
