So somebody posted in r/Rengarmains subreddit, that the Emp. Q crit dealt less damage than the normal Q crit, and I got curious, so I hopped into Practice tool, made some tests, some calculations, and this is my conclusion:
The build I used: 6 Essence Reavers on lvl 18, my AD was 544.
Normal Q can crit like normal. It's formula is your AD * 2 (the crit) + 150 (Q base damage) + 20% tAD (The bonus, your Q gives you).
This equation gives 1346.8, and it deals 1348 to the 0 armor dummy, so looks like this is correct.
The Empowered Q however is unable to crit. It says in the tooltip, that it will deal 997 damage, and that's the exact damage it will deal to the 0 armor dummy. While still showing crit effects, it CAN'T crit.
Normal Q can apply bonus damage from IE crit enhancement, while Empowered Q can not.
I don't know if this is intended or not, I would really love to get some feedback from a Rioter.
Edit: So u/Ryo_Marufuji confirmed that it crits like normal while jumping, it's only bugged in melee range, so it's definitely unintended.
