I never understood the hate some people have for diamond players. And I really think it's just a vocal minority of people that watch high elo streamers and just mimic their personality and phrases, but that's mostly just a surmise. Because, I always thought diamond players they were really good at the game. Just for some perspective, my breakdown of the ranks would be:
Iron: Very inexperienced. usually either really new, really young, elderly or has some condition holding them back (Parkinson's, loss of a body part, extreme anxiety etc)
Bronze: Still very inexperienced, may have developed some bad habits that's holding them back from becoming silver
(this is where it may start getting controversial)
Silver: Average players. Not bad but not incredible either. You will see most of these players in your norms games. Has alot of room to grow
Gold: Above average. The equivalent of getting a B on your report card. I've always considered these players to be good at the game. Not the best of the best, but still good at the game.
Platinum: Above above average. The equivalent of getting an A on your report card. I've always considered these players to be really good.
Diamond: The Equivalent of getting an A+ on your report card. Incredible at the game.
Master, GM and Challenger: The best of the best, alot of them are veteran players or ex-pro players. The equivalent of getting an A+ in an advanced placement subject.
On the other hand, those aforementioned diamond-hating players seem to have their list like
Iron: Terrible
Bronze: terrible
Silver: terrible
Gold: terrible
Platinum: Terrible
Diamond: Absolutely garbage. I'd rather have an iron 4 player on my team before I get matchmade with a diamond player. Please God come to the world and cleanse us of the diamond plague.
Master. GM and challenger: Average
