I stepped away during draft phase for a 30 minute meeting which ran over to 34 minutes and T1 finished the game before I finished my meeting. bruh.

EDIT: summation of today https://i.imgur.com/3qJQtmr.png

(and yes I know DFM is from the LJL it's an old meme)

Is Worlds just on display everywhere at Riot HQ? Do you get in trouble for watching it at work?

Well, I'm in Europe right now, so I am working from home. I told my manager today that no work is gonna get done when EU is playing and he was like lol yeah that's fine.

At least in my team (information security in dublin) it's something of an annual ritual to enjoy worlds together. Most of us really enjoy watching it.

in the Dublin office, Worlds is tradtionally on all of the screens when it's broadcast at EU-friendly times and, no, no one gets "in trouble" for watching it - it's a cultural thing, but in addition people are trusted to use their time wisely and do the work they commit to on time without micro-management. My boss doesn't care if I am watching worlds at work as long as I get all my sprint work done each sprint.

Yeah I made it sound a lot like a teacher punishing you with 'in trouble' haha. Thanks for the info, I figured as much but it's interesting to read

it's understandable, i would definitely have gotten in trouble for it in previous jobs

I always imagined Riot offices to be something akin to NASA in Hollywood movies wherein everybody stares quietly at a screen and then erupts when something big happens.

I can't comment on what it's like in the LA office - I am not usually around LA during worlds time - but there have certainly been a few friday evenings like that in knockout stages in previous worlds in Dublin. A group of 20 or so people would order pizza and enjoy the knockouts together after work

That sounds quite healthy.

It is. I wish more companies were like this. Riot is the first "big" company I've worked for, and many smaller companies do not have this same attitude, mostly because they try to be really corporate to compensate for their size
