Man, it feels like just yesterday everyone was saying Yuumi sucked...
Shes both hard to play individually and (especially) hard to play with as teammates, which makes for a double hitting learning curve. We've always known that played well she was strong, and after the hotfix buffs, we suspect that she was hilariously overpowered - but at the end of the day game balance must reflect actual players. We are okay with releasing champions a fair bit lower winrate than other champions currently are because players get better - but not 30% winrate.
And now that pro play is starting to kick in and people are starting to figure her out, we can start scaling back the hotfix buffs and refining her balance to be closer for the average player vs the coordinated pro team. Even then, it's entirely possible that some regions just have an incorrect read on her (ie: she doesn't seem to be nearly as high priority in China), so maybe shes not actually that bonkers. It'll certainly take time for this to fully settle, but we'll get there.
Fortunately, experience playing with Yuumi only increases with time, so in the future a new Yuumi player will both have seen other ppl playing her, and won't have to deal with allies who have no idea what she does.
Can you guys please correct her difficulty rating then.
its weird cause we actually think she is probably one of the best champs for a total noob, especially if they are playing with a more experience friend. Noob, not iron, being the keyword. I'm talking about someone who isn't familiar with RTS controls, and tries to use WASD to move their character, and barely ever right clicks anything. Put them in a game where right clicking is like, 90% of the button presses you do, and you'd probably see them basically just walk into the enemy and die cause they literally aren't accustomed to the controls of the game - and Yuumi takes that problem away and lets them focus on using their abilities and watching allies / enemies actions.
Noob players unable to control their character just casually buying 6300 BE champs... Lol
You make a valid point.
Hey, I don't think just saying she's too strong in proplay is an accurate representation here.
For the upcoming nerfs it was discussed how Yuumi has an extremely high win rate growth on mains, with (if I remember correctly) 16% higher win rate after ~50 games.
This is giving these 'experienced' players a 60% win rate after the initial hotfix buffs which is a good enough reason for the current nerfs that were being looked at.
Please correct me if any of these figures are wrong, it's all from memory from what I have been reading about balancing patch discussions.
yeah shes definitely not just too strong for pro - which is why i also mentioned people are starting to figure out how to play her.
What is it about beluga's that you love?
i had to change my name, which used to have whale in it, and beluga was the first type of whale that wasn't taken. sorry theres no deeper story here x.x
they are pretty cool though. especially the buff variety
Are you the same BelugaWhale who used to be a top BLC Player? I used to play against you with my friend RBP if so lol.
nope, thats not me
Speaking of which, is there ever going to be an alteration to the BE costs of champions? Having champions released 4-5 years ago still cost 6300 is ridiculous. I understand if your unable to answer, I'm just legitimately curious if the topic is even something that's being considered at Riot.
sorry, don't actually know anything about prices / sales.
