I have played toplane since season 4. Always enjoyed it being a solo lane, kinda secluded with a stomp or get stomped mentality. I always thought my impact on the map was fine as long as I performed.

When TP was open since min 1, you could cross map, you could splitpush. You could proxy. There were a lot of different strategies.

They were added to bring some more action to toplane but I dont really feel that they have hit the mark. The objective is a pure jungle/support gap objective. If you have good players, you play around this objective. If not, you lose 6 grubs and its perma splitpush time for the opponent.

Voidgrubbs for me has only been a nuisance. It is so dependent on having a competent jungler so its sort of impossible to play around them without a jungler.

Many times when I feel strong top, my jungler does the normal thing and plays around botside. Enemy jungler trade 1 dragon for 3 grubs and my opponent gets a push advantage. If its a Garen or Trynd or Jax, its pure C to play around. Naturally since its an objective, the support actually roams topside for the objective and if your support does not roam, then it does not matter if you are strong or not. You have to leave it.

They are an objective that are really dependent on the team playing together and some winnable games are lost because people ignore this fact.

I would much prefer if the Voidgrubbs were placed in the top alcove and the alcove was a bit bigger, and they were really tanky so that no top laner could actually solo them without losing everything.

That way in order to get them, you have to get a successful gank off, or if you want to protect them, you have to fight 2v2. It could make the draft more impactful with people actually drafting together rather than picking favorite champions. Renekton Elise, or Twisted Fate and Reksai etc..

Those are my thoughts. What are yours?
