Here at Riot Games, we know when to admit that a mistake has been made. For example, we admit that the players mistakenly misinterpreted the profound, deep and touching Story BeatsTM of the latest Sentinels of Light event.
While we are disappointed that our playerbase was not moved by emotional moments in the story such as Olaf having a bad case of flatulence in the spiritual center of Ionia or the Rookie informing the Black Rose about their bad habit of wetting the bed, we have still not given up on our ungrateful community (yet), so we wish to share some great news!
Recently, we shipped a revamped version of Fiddlesticks, the Ancient Fear. We have been tracking and closely monitoring the scarecrow’s success so far, and our data has shown that Fiddlesticks has been selling very few skins, so, in our eyes, the champion is a disappointment and a failure. We hereby disown the current version, which we will be promptly sending into the Void along with Dominion and Twisted Treeline and the other game modes players liked but which we’re not bringing back.
Our champion design team proposed that we re-relaunch Fiddlesticks after injecting him with some of our patented “200 years / 2021 new champion” magic. We want our champions to appeal to the players, and we feel that the best way to achieve this is to consistently have male champions be shirtless and ripped and female champions be cute with same-face syndrome. Fiddlesticks had managed to elude its fate - its very destiny, but not anymore. Alea jacta est - Fiddlesticks was now slated for a re-rework.
And at this point, we ran into a problem: Fiddlesticks does not seem to have a gender. We asked the chimpanzee that has been roaming in our office for some time now (nobody knows where it came from) about the lore. Maybe it knew Fiddlesticks’ gender!
Fun fact: This is the same chimpanzee that we asked about Yorick’s lore when creating the SoL event! It can be so helpful at times, because reading through the lore is such a chore.
Sadly, even the chimpanzee did not know Fiddlesticks’ gender, so we decided to try everything and see what stuck. In the end, we decided to go with the abs, since, from our experience, we know it’s working. But for those of you who wanted yet another cute anime girl, stay tuned, because we have a surprise coming at the end!
The next step when reworking a champion is deciding its visual identity and thematic (we don’t really bother with abilities at this stage). An ancient horror that preys on the living and looks disgusting and appalling? That is sooooo not 2021! Our team brainstormed hard, trying to find a new identity for Fiddlesticks, while only keeping some small parts of the original lore (Apparently, we have to do that because some people who call themselves “mains” or something get pissed? Lol IDK).
We will also be getting rid of Fiddlestick's scythe, since we want to shift its source of power to its raw physical strength, originating from the Riot-Games-approved abs the creature will sport.
We explored and toyed with several concepts, but we still haven’t locked one in. As such, we want to know your opinion on the matter so that we can ignore it when making our final decision.

Words do not do the beauty that is this concept justice. Through this concept, Fiddlesticks will be reborn into the alpha that is has always been destined to be.

2) Fiddlesticks, the Demonic E-Boy
We wanted to innovate once more, so we all downloaded TikTok and fed the videos into a neural network using state-of-the-art Riot Games AI technology. After three crashes and several employees getting injured from the ensuing fire, we were able to extract a result from our network.
We believe that our network might have confused the terms E-Boy and Hipster, but we could not risk yet another fire and subsequent lawsuits for an unsafe work environment, so we had to run with this:

3) Blake
For this one, we decided to play around with the champion's name. "Fiddlesticks" doesn't really convey the raw energy that our vision for the champion dictates, so we swapped it with something that does.
Skin tweaks
We will also be tweaking Fiddlesticks’ skins to better reflect his new persona. We also feel that our audience prefers skins that are more adult-oriented, so here’s a sneak peek of the new Surprise Party Fiddlesticks, hot abs included:

But wait, there's more
Finally, we want the weebs players who are invested in culturally diverse forms of art to buy more skins, so we are creating a kawaii skin for Fiddlesticks! (Note to self: What does kawaii even mean? -> Must remember to ask the chimpanzee later)
We want our monster champions to feel less like monsters, and more like humans, because then our playerbase will buy more skins relate better to them!
So, without further ado, we hereby present some of our concepts for Battle Academia Fiddlesticks, complete with immersive backstories full of interesting Story BeatsTM, which may or may not be canonical. After all, who cares? Since we can just retcon it later, it’s not an issue, right?
