Riot Phlox tweeted:

Hey gamers, some more jungle followup is hitting PBE today for 13.5. We're putting more power back into farming camps and hitting early ganks a bit harder through both expected value and risks of counterjungling.

Details attached but more context in following tweets

While there still remains some value to curbing early invades, the cost is just too high right now to merit retaining the mechanic. I think it was worth exploring, I'd rather us try stuff and pull it than never try it at all, but it's time to sunset it now.

The counterjungling penalty was often misunderstood (a lot of people think it affects healing or gold or xp as well) but it did hit early invades meant to punish early ganks enough that there wasn't a strong reason not to gank since you weren't risking camps or future farm.

Jungle gold per camp is ~20g down from S12 now, which is a bit too severe of a loss for anyone interested in heavy farming. Bringing about half of that gold back (you still get treat gold as well) to make sure that all kinds of different strategies are viable in the role

The sweeper changes should reduce early vision denial to make it a bit harder for junglers to get off early ganks, but also generally pare down the power of the trinket as it's a little too good through gametime at choking out enemy sight.

Finally, sapping xp from waves after getting early ganks and pushing out waves or catching allied waves after they die should be less effective at slingshotting you ahead of the game without farming your camps or killing enemies.

Hopefully the last set of disruptive changes to the jg for a while. Glad we've had the time to do followup after preseason and thanks for sticking around and reading!

Changes are:

  • Sweeper cooldown increased from 90 - 60 seconds to 120 - 60

  • Jungle items now deal 20% bonus damage against enemy camps, previously only applied to your side jg only

  • Jungle lane XP at first 14 minutes reduced from 75% to 40% - 75% scaling linearly with game time.

  • Gromp gold increased from 70 to 80

  • Blue Buff gold increased from 80 to 90

  • Red buff gold increased from 80 to 90

  • Big wolf gold increased from 50 to 55

  • Small wolf gold increased from 13 to 15

  • Big raptor gold increased from 30 to 35

  • Small raptor gold increased from 7 to 8

  • Medium Krug gold increased from 5 to 10

  • Small Krug gold increased from 13 to 14

It's funny timing, I put these changes in Friday but they only came out on PBE today cause of the weekend.

Glad T1 cares <3

Yea like if you’re on any team or project do you HAVE to come in 9-5..5 days a week or can you come in to work/office each day at diff times depending what needs done and by when?

Depends on the team and project and discipline but lots of people never come in and lots of people come in every day.

I take every other Thursday from home cause it's meetings all day lol

Can you keep an eye on Elise to make sure she doesn't become terrible with this change. Pretty please.

We're def gonna have a close eye on early gankers, esp ones we've nerfed since this meta started

I heard you get free food everyday though. Sounds worth it to me 😂

We do! (Though technically it's subsidized) Noms has an Instagram account you can even follow for live pics and recipes.

Still doesn't make me want to go in. I'm lazy af and can wear sweat pants and chill with my dog when I'm at home.

Hi Phlox.

This might seem a bit picky of me, but I noticed you've said there "I put these changes in". I understand that decisions are likely based on data for the most part, but I'm curious if the decisions are being made as part of a team as well?

Yeah they're team alignment!

I assumed some teams have to go in office tho no? Like hr or type of dprts that need access to certain things for projects like art etc?

I think it's team/individual-based. My brother, for instance, works on a tech ops-ish team and he has to sometimes go into the office when he's on call. He works remotely for the rest of the time.

And I go in when I am doing video shoots or if my team is having a big meeting. Other teams are MOSTLY in-office.

The office is still pretty busy Tue-Thur though. Whenever I'm there it's pretty crowded. I'd say pre-COVID numbers even though Riot has grown A LOT since the pandemic started.
