Dear Arena Devs,

I would like to make the following "Improvement of Game Experience" suggestions for you to please consider implementing.

01) Expanded comment selection: "Thank you!", and "Sorry!", are two (in my opinion) extremely basic and useful comments that human beings have been sharing with one another for centuries. I do not see how anyone could be offended by adding those two options to the list of Comment Selections. I'm sure there are many more that could be added but I feel it is way past time (and a bit disconcerting) that those two are not currently options.

02) Two more seconds: May we please have two more seconds after losing before the screen disallows us to interact with it? Uncommon scenario: players are accustomed to playing against people who concede before said player can finish attacking and killing their opponent when said player is NOT wasting time during their turn, casting unnecessary spells but just going to the meat of the matter and attempting to attack only to see their opponent has conceded before they can accomplish their goal. Why is this even a complaint? The reason is that there were several games where I wanted to say "Good game!" to my opponent and they, who had not been rude/impolite during the match, rushes to kill me instantly (possibly to avoid the uncommon scenario I detailed above) and there goes my attempt at common courtesy to someone who did the same for me.

03) Allow us to friend opponents: I am sure this scares you for some odd reason but I have taken part in some really great matches whether because of an opponent's cool deck or a truly great/abysmal draw on both our parts and then the match is over and we are both sucked back into the void. I find that a sense of community helps foster creativity and this in turn leads to players expanding their card pools (i.e., spending more money) in order to try new combos, etc. Seriously, we don't need to pretend this is Magic the Gathering: Wall-E.

04) Edit Friendly Match Details: Why are we not allowed to play games with friends that use "alternative rules" to our matches. For example: 01) Increased timer so we don't have to rush each other in a FRIENDLY match where we just want to have fun and show off our new combo ideas; 02) Editable life totals: I think this is self-explanatory; 03) Two-Headed Giant or any number of other options see here please; 04) Best of Three Brawl: it is truly annoying to have to run a best of three brawl game that we need to initiate each and every time unlike standard matches; 05) Best of X: Can we change this to say 5 or 7 or whatever?

05) Nonsensical In Turn Timer: Be me. I cast a spell; I wait for my opponent to react; they take "forever"; the round finally comes back to me and now my timer is running out because I have to choose 'X' or 'Y' but I've barely spent any time on my actual turn. Look into it. Please. I believe I'm not going crazy with regards to this.

If you have read this, regardless of whether you ignore it completely or consider some of my thoughts, "Thank you!"

Edit: Best of Three Brawl and Best of X were both labeled "04)". Corrected.

Good list; I especially appreciate the detail around why you want these things and the reasonable, friendly tone. Some quick thoughts:

01) Expanded comment selection - As others have pointed out, this needs to be carefully handled to avoid generating more annoying/spammy situations for players. We'd like to find a way to give the good parts without also bringing the bad. We feel like we've got a handle on that; you'll want to check out the State of the Game that drops in a few days.

02) Two more seconds - To do what you want (give the "Good game" response) we'd also have to hold an opponent that already conceded in the match for another two seconds. If a player concedes, they want out quickly and we don't want to get in the way there.

03) Allow us to friend opponents - As others have pointed out, in other games this is most often used for toxic, rather than friendly, reasons. We would like to deliver the good parts here, but absolutely don't want to inflict the bad parts on players. Still working on how to do both, but it's something we talk actively about.

04) Edit Friendly Match Details - We also talk a good bit about how to expand the possibilities for fun Direct Challenge play. Some of the things you mention are a lot more work than others (2HG is obviously a lot of effort, but "Best 5 of 7" turns out to take more than you'd think as well). Nothing to report here immediately, but we're interested in hearing more about what players would like there.

05) Nonsensical In Turn Timer - In many cases, situations like the one you describe are the result of a hiccup in the internet connection between you and the server (opponent actually reacts promptly, sends that message to the server -> server starts your timer and passes the response on to you -> response gets delayed in arriving, making it look like the opponent took forever to respond -> your timer feels like it starts too quickly). We're always looking for ways we can make that happen less, but for some cases there's not much we can do.

It's a bit niche but I would love for alternate win conditions to be more prominent. It's confusing for new players when you just randomly explode at 50 health, and a more prominent graphic would really improve how great it feels to go off with [[Revel in Riches]] or [[Etrata the Silencer]]. Something more than a half-second trigger on the normal stack that you don't even have time to read – sometimes I don't even know if I was allowed to win or opponent conceded!

This is maybe my second-biggest "as a player" want for the game. And I'm also the jerk that has to keep pushing it further down the schedule. One day.
