Pestilence: Morgan Le Fay
Behold, Apocalypse's first horseman is riding toward the battlefield: Morgan Le Fay!
The first of four powerful new figures of the Age of Apocalypse, Morgan Le Fay will arrive with the newly formed Darkhold team, which will consist of Morgan Le Fay, Scarlet Witch, and three new characters, who we'll cover in future posts. As we mentioned in our 2022 Preview Blog, each horseman's team will specialize in a specific game mode, and the Darkhold team will unlock their full potential in Arena. Now, let's meet Apocalypse's first horseman…
Morgan Le Fay was born in the 6th Century to an English Duke and Lady Igraine of Avalon, one of the islands that remained above water after the sinking of Atlantis. Morgan is half-faerie, an ancient magical race who access Earth via Britain and Ireland. As a young woman, Morgan studied with the famous wizard Merlin. In return, Morgan promised to become the wizard's lover, but her true intention was to destroy Camelot. Her half-brother, King Arthur, joined in this attempt to destroy the fortress but their scheme was ultimately thwarted. Following the failed plot, Merlin magically trapped Morgan inside her own castle using a spell that would instantly kill her if she attempted to leave. While unable to physically leave the castle, Morgan was able to project her astral form into future timelines to search for a loophole that would allow for her to escape. This led to her tangling with some of Earth's most powerful heroes and villains across the timeline, including Scarlet Witch, Iron Man, the Young Avengers, and even Doctor Doom. She was also the first being strong enough to bind a collection of an elder god's evil spells into a single tome that would come to be known as "The Darkhold." Morgan Le Fay was naturally gifted with keen intellect and combined with learnings under Merlin has become one of the most powerful sorceresses in Earth's history. In addition to astral projection and time travel, Morgan's powers include spell casting, reality warping, resurrection, and shape shifting!
Morgan Le Fay joins the newly-formed Darkhold team as a Legendary Controller with high Health and Damage. Her mystical abilities not only bolster her Darkhold allies, but also specialize in punishing Controller enemies. Controllers are currently some of the top dogs in Arena, so this reality-bending sorceress will be shifting the Arena reality as well. As you will see in her kit below, Morgan Le Fay is extremely powerful. Once her Special ability, Time Warp, goes off, it'll disrupt the turn order for the entire battlefield. Her power increases with her Darkhold allies, but you'd also be wise to accompany her with characters with high Speed.
Warp the battlefield with Apocalypse's first Horseman:
Traits: Villain, Global, Mystic, Controller, Darkhold, Horsemen, Legendary
Basic - Soul Siphon
- Attack primary target for 350% damage + copy and clear 2 positive effects, excluding Taunt.
- On Crit, instead, copy and clear all positive effects, excluding Taunt.
- Steal 10% Health from the primary target and redistribute to self.
Special - Time Warp
- Energy Cost: 4/6
- Reduce Speed Bar for self, all allies, and all enemies by 100%.
- Clear all positive effects from all enemies.
- Clear all negative effects from self.
- Heal self for 100% of this character's Max Health.
- Deal 10% of this character's Max Health, as damage, to all enemies.
- Apply Speed Up for 2 turns and Immunity to self and all DARKHOLD allies.
- This attack is unavoidable.
Ultimate - Reality Break
- Energy Cost: 4/4
- Clear Immunity from the primary target.
- Attack primary and adjacent targets for 325% Piercing.
- This attack has 50% Extra Crit Chance.
- Apply Disrupted and Slow to the primary target.
- Spread all negative effects from the primary target to all adjacent targets. This will not spread Stun or Ability Block.
- Apply Trauma and Ability Block to all CONTROLLER enemies.
- Flip 2 positive effects into negative effects on all non-CONTROLLER enemies.
- Reduce Speed Bar of all enemies that do not have any negative effects by 30%.
- This attack cannot be dodged.
Passive - Fae Queen
- On Spawn: Barrier self for 20% of this character's Max Health
- On Spawn: Apply Safeguard for 2 turns to self and all DARKHOLD allies
- On Spawn: Fill Speed Bar by 5% per MYSTIC enemy, up to a max of 20%.
- On enemy Turn, fill Speed Bar by 10% for self and all DARKHOLD allies.
- Lower the Assist Chance for all enemies by 25% per DARKHOLD ally, up to a max of 100%.
- Gain +50% Max Health. DARKHOLD allies gain +50% Max Health.
- Gain +100% Resistance. DARKHOLD allies gain +100% Resistance.
- In ARENA, Gain +30% Max Barrier. In ARENA, DARKHOLD allies gain +30% Max Barrier.
Developer Note: Normally Barrier is capped at 30% of a character’s Max Health but the final line of Fae Queen increases the cap to 60% of Max Health for any and all Darkhold characters.
Your first chance to recruit Apocalypse's Horseman will arrive with Morgan Le Fay's Pestilence Scourge Event, where you'll earn her character shards via milestones and rank rewards. Scourge Difficulties 1 through 5 have flexible character requirements, but Difficulties 6 and above will require either Web-Warriors or Dark Hunters specifically for Missions 5 and 10. Difficulties 6 and above aren't required to unlock Morgan Le Fay, but keep in mind that you'll earn more points with higher difficulties, which will be helpful in ranking her up to higher Star counts. Below are the Gear Tier recommendations for each base difficulty. Please keep in mind that several of the higher difficulties are not intended to be 100% completed on the first run of this Scourge Event, and are something that players can aspire to complete over time.

A Hero's Haunting
The cure for Alliance War defeat is heading your way on March 9th at 4:00PM (PST) in the form of Doctor Voodoo's Event Campaign, "A Hero's Haunting." Don't miss one of your first chances to earn Doctor Voodoo character shards and power up the Dark Hunters team, who can significantly improve your chances of earning a high-star version of Morgan Le Fay during the Pestilence Scourge Event. Join Doctor Voodoo as he investigates a series of demonic possessions that threaten the safety of Nexus Earth. Here are the event requirements for each difficulty:
- Easy: Commander Level 28
- Medium: Commander Level 43
- Hard: Commander Level 58 and at least 5 characters with the limited-time "Spirit Slayer" trait.
