As the title says, people in my alliance have announced they are quitting the game because of the Zim release method, and in all honesty I won't be that far behind them because this character release has to be the most despicable, cash hungry release to ever grace a video game, and a mobile game at that!

I'm going to wait out and see how the coming days play out, but if there is absolutely no way for free to play to unlock Zim then I'd rather not plunge any more hours into this game.

I can think of 20 characters I have that are going to get built up before I spend 1 gold on ZIM.

Yea zero is a bit extreme, you need war credits for teal pieces, and shards, and you get the currency for t2 iso-4, and a decent enough scoop of gold. None of this is worth breaking the bank but it's also nothing to shrug at.

Raids are critical to roster building but they're very monotonous, with the exact same thing day after day. For many players, war has value in adding some crucial competitive variety to the game.

well commander I would argue that war is extremely monotonous(insert your choice of big word)... war is designed to only have counters for certain teams that cost $$.. you can't build a team with your own roster like you used to be able to in ultimus raid days(doom raids have ruined team build i will admit, but still better then war)
