Haha! I started digging around the lava mess I created and behold: ancient debris! It was less than 10 blocks away from where I started

TNT worked, I now have two ingots and the anxiety of what to upgrade first ;) I'll try using beds another time, I just happened to have several stacks of gunpowder lying around.
